Cornwall staff go dotty to help cancer patients
Bodmin Treatment Centre, in Cornwall, recently took part in Spot
the Symptoms Week, organised by Lynn's Bowel Cancer Campaign.
Members of staff, including General Manager Jeanette Mercer and
Consultant Bowel Surgeon Mr E Lloyd-Davies, held a Dress Spotty Day
at the hospital to raise money and awareness for the charity.
The Consultants at Bodmin Treatment Centre perform a large
number of endoscopy procedures on NHS patients from all over
Cornwall. These procedures are used for the diagnosis of bowel
cancer.
Lynn's Bowel Cancer Campaign is a small charity founded by
former Watchdog presenter Lynn Faulds Wood, who beat advanced bowel
cancer.
Lynn knows what advanced cancer feels like, as she was lucky to
survive it. Lynn has made it her mission to help prevent this
common cancer, and works to encourage earlier diagnosis through
symptoms advice and screening, and to improve standards of
treatment. The charity aims to help improve the lives of patients
and their carers, at every stage of their journey through bowel
cancer.
