Peterborough hospital supports the Great Eastern Run
Fitzwilliam Hospital, in Peterborough, has become the first
official hospital to support the national Great Eastern Run.
Around 3,500 runners took to the streets on Sunday 12 October,
to complete the 13 mile run. Along the course, runners welcomed the
free Fitzwilliam Hospital water, with temperatures reaching 22ºC on
the day.
Fitzwilliam Hospital’s own dedicated team of eight
Physiotherapists and Podiatrists offered much-needed treatment at
the finishing line. Physiotherapy Manager Keith Openshaw commented:
”We were delighted to be such an essential part of this prestigious
event.”
Another popular member of the team, the Fitz Cat, congratulated
the winners and supported runners at the finishing line.
A big thank you goes to all the staff and Consultants who
supported the event. Congratulations to Fitzwilliam’s Regional
Marketing Manager Tania Terblanche, who finished her first
half-marathon in 2 hours 15 minutes. Special mention must be made
to Alistair Dickson, Fitzwilliam Physiotherapist, who finished his
run in an impressive 1 hour 40 minutes - luckily without any
injuries, as he was part of the physiotherapy support team!
