Educational seminars for General Practitioners, Practice Staff
and Healthcare Professionals.
The Oaks Hospital is committed to passing on its knowledge and
as part of this commitment we organise a series of seminars for
general practitioners and other healthcare professionals. Our guest
speakers include various consultants with practising privileges
here at the Oaks. Certificates are provided at all seminars for the
purpose of CPD evidence.
Exercise Induced Leg Pain. Saturday 31st January 2009
This one day course with Guest Speaker, Jayne McLenaghan is
designed for Physiotherapist, Doctors and Sports Exercise
Therapists with a special interest in developing their knowledge of
exercise induced leg pain. The course will also provide an ideal
forum for open discussion with your colleagues.
Topics will include:
- Chronic Compartment Syndromes
- Tendinopathy
- Functional Anatomy of the lower limb
- Mechanics of Running/Walking
- Usual types of exercise induced leg pain
- Muscle imbalance and the kinetic chain
- Rehab ideas including Eccentric loading
- Re-education of running and gait
- Haemodynamics – poplital entrapment syndrome
- Assessment and clinical reasoning
- Miserable Malalignment Syndrome
Jayne McLenaghan is a Lower Limb Clinical Specialist
Physiotherapist who works for the Defence Rehabilitation Centre,
Headley Court, and the centre of excellence in exercise induced leg
pain for the Forces. Jayne qualified in 1994 from the University of
Ulster. She has spent the last 5 years working as a specialist in
this field and is currently involved in research in Compartment
Syndrome for the Army, along side being a clinician. Jayne also has
a special interest in Biomechanics during different forms of
exercise.
The cost to attend the course is £120 and will
include lunch and refreshments. Places will be limited and must be
booked in advance. A certificate of attendance will be provided for
the purpose of CPD evidence.
