Rhian Warner Physiotherapy Manager BSc(Hons),
MCSP
Rhian graduated from King's College London in 1998. She worked
initially in London for two years and then in Berkshire, working at
The Berkshire Independent Hospital for 18 months as the In-patient
team lead in 2002. Rhian then re-joined the hospital in
June 2005.
Clinical Specialities: She has a particular interest in the
rehabilitation of patients who have PD and those people who fall,
having run specialist groups at Frimley Park Day Hospital, attended
specialist courses and as a member of AGILE. She has expereince and
interest in treating a variety of neurological disorders.
Out-Patient Team
Cathy Cronin Lead Out-Patient Physiotherapist MCSP,Grad
Dip Phys, MAACP
Cathy graduated from Manchester Royal Infirmary in 1973. She has
worked in Private Practice in the Reading area since 1989, joining
Capio Reading Hospital in 1999. Cathy was the team physiotherapist
for two synchronised Ice Skating teams at Bracknell ice rink
between 1996 and 2003, accompanying them to both national and
international competitions.
Clinical Specialities: Cathy is a clinical specialist in
shoulder conditions, with a particular interest in Total Shoulder
Replacement rehabilitation, working in conjunction with the Reading
Shoulder Surgery Unit. She is licensed to practice acupuncture and
as a member of the Health & Safety committee, is involved in
staff work-station assessments within The Berkshire Independent
Hospital .
Wendy Butcher Clinical Specialist MCSP, Grad Dip Phys,
BAHT
Wendy graduated in 1976 from Sheffield. Initially she worked in
the NHS, where she rose to Clinical Lead in Medical and General
Surgery. After a short career break she joined the Orthopaedic team
in a private practice in Reading specilaising in knee and shoulder
rehab. Wendy joined Capio reading in 1999.
Clinical Specialities: Initially Wendy worked closely with the
team in the Shoulder Unit but for the last two years Wendy has
worked closely with Charles Pailthorpe, becoming his Hand Clinical
Specialist.
Carolyn Hogg Clinical Specialist BSc(Hons), Grad Dip
Phys, MCSP
Carolyn studied physiology at Bristol University, before going
on to train as a Physiotherapist at the Middlesex Hospital 3 years
later. Her interest in Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine started in
1981 when she joined the Reading Sports Injury clinic, where she
first worked alongside Mr Copeland. She has been in private
practice for over 20 years, latterly at Whitely Glebe clinic and
since 1999, The Berkshire Independent Hospital .
Clinical Specialities: Carolyn's main expertise lies in the
treatment of shoulders, necks and knees. Her physiology background
has generated a special interest in the use of EMG biofeedback
therapy for complex shoulder problems and knees with muscle
imbalance.
Minal Desai Senior Physiotherapist BSc(Hons), MCSP,
MAACP
Minal graduated in 1998 and worked in a prestigious private
hospital in India, lead by the physiotherapist for the Indian
Cricket team. She relocated to the UK in 2003 and worked at The
Cromwell Hospital in London for a year, before moving to Capio
Reading Hospital.
Clinical Specialities: Minal enjoys treating a mixed caseload of
out-patients, especially shoulder and knee related problems. She
also has a growing interest in hand therapy and is licensed to
practice acupuncture.
Tracy Fothergill Clinical Specialist BSc
(Hons),
MCSP
Tracy graduated from the University of Witwatersrand,
Johannesburg in 1996. For the last six years Tracy has specialised
in the treatment of both male and female continence related issues.
Tracy joined the team at the Berkshire Independent Hospital in
2004 and also works as part of the continence team at the Royal
Berkshire Hospital.
Tracy's goal is to look at patients more holistically and
address the cause rather than just treating the symptoms.
Clinical Specialities: Tracy is a qualified continence
physiotherapist and is a member of the Association of Chartered
Physiotherapists in Women's Health, the Association for Continence
and the Continence Foundation.
Tracy also specialises in CranioSacral Therapy, she attends
courses with the Upledger Institute UK on a continual basis and is
a member of the CranioSacral Society.
In-Patient Team
Louise Allamand Lead In-Patient Physiotherapist
BSc(Hons), MCSP
Louise graduated from the University of Hertfordshire in 1998.
Following her graduation she worked for 41/2 years at Frimley Park
Hospital, working in all specialities. Louise joined Capio Reading
in May 2004 as Lead In-patient Physiotherapist, to concentrate on
her orthopaedic rehablitation skills. Clinical
Specialities: Louise has excellent Respiratory skills having had
2 years experience at senior level working in ITU, HDU and on the
Medical wards. She also has excellent acute orthopaedic
rehabilitation skills. Louise Gell Senior Physiotherapist
BSc(Hons), MCSP Louise graduated from the University of Southampton
in 1999. She worked for 4 years at Frimley Park Hospital, covering
all specialities. Louise came to work at the Berkshire Independent
Hospital in 2003 as Lead In-patient Physio and Acting Physio
Manager for a year. She returned in August 2005, following a career
break and now works part-time.
Clinical Speciaities: Louise has a particular interest in
respiratory physiotherapy, having attended many courses in this
area. She also has a special interest in post-op orthopaedic
rehabilitation.
Sandy Price Senior Physiotherapist BSc(Hons),
MCSP
Sandy graduated from the University of Toronto in 1985. In
Toronto, she became a Senior Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapist in
1989 and a member of the Cystic Fibrosis Team in 1991. She moved to
England in 1994. Sandy has worked at several hospitals in the UK,
including the Nuffield Orthopeadic Hospital in Oxford. Sandy became
a permanent member of the team in 2005, having worked as a bank
member of staff for a year.
