Specialised clinics at New Hall Hospital
One Stop Breast Care Clinics
Every Wednesday afternoon at New Hall Hospital, we have a
One Stop Breast Care clinic. This is led by Salisbury Surgeon Mr.
Nick Carty together with the support of Consultant Radiologist Dr.
Susan Hegarty. This means that patients are able to come for a
Consultation and leave with a definitive diagnosis. As Mr. Carty
says, "This clinic combines the comfort and personal service that
you expect of a private hospital with the speed and efficiency of
the best of the NHS".
Patients are able to have an examination, mammogram and
ultrasound all in one visit. If required, patients can have other
investigations including fine needle cytology. These investigations
are fully reported, so patients can leave New Hall with all of
their questions answered. The fact that the clinic is held every
Wednesday means that all patients are seen within 7 days from the
receipt of their referral.
New Hall Hospital has responded to new legislation by only
accepting referrals for Mammography from a clinician. This means
that patients who are symptom free are still welcome to attend for
their regular mammograms, but they are now required to have a
request card which has been signed by their GP. For further

One-Stop Clinic for patients with back pain
Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Mr. David Chapple, together
with New Hall Hospital has a one stop spinal clinic. Patients
are able to have a Consultation, and if indicated, an MRI scan on
the same day, and the films from the scan are made available to Mr.
Chapple within an hour of it being performed.
If the results of the scan indicate that therapy would be
useful, the patient may be directed towards minor injection
techniques. It is also possible to carry out these injections on
the same day. This could potentially save the patient from having
to make 3 or 4 return journeys to the Hospital. For further
