"What can I say? Where can I start? How did I know that Medway
Hospital appointed me the best hospital in Surrey to have my hip
repaired. From the moment I stepped through the doors of North
Downs Hospital I could not have been made any more welcome.
From the top, yourself Mr Drabu, what a fabulous and profusive
man you are, assuring me all the time that everything would be ok
and it was. Next was the Theatre Team, a good laugh and jolly all
the way through and again very, very reassuring. Next, the night
and day sisters who were fabulous. Nothing was too big a job to do
for me anytime. The day nurses, what a great bunch of girls,
bubbly, and gave as good as they got with the jokes from me. The
Cleaners were immaculate throughout their work, and not forgetting
the chefs. The tall handsome one and the crazy Frenchman always had
time for me (and very good chefs at that).
Once again Mr Drabu, you have turned my life around, no more
pain and popping pills, the simple things in life like being able
to walk in a straight line with my right foot pointing forward,
climbing stairs with no problem, and returning back to work after
six weeks, a miracle!
If I have left anybody out I apologise.
Please show this letter to all concerned, which has been written
from the HEART.
Once again THANKS EVERYBODY. And especially yourself Mr
Drabu"

A FIT AND ACTIVE MAN AGAIN
My name is Mo and I am writing this short (can't promise this
though as I have a lot to say) email to explain my experience of my
very recent (1 week on) breast reduction operation, which was
conducted by the wonderful and very clever Martin Jones.
I am 45 years old and have had very large breasts for as long as
I can remember, since I was very young if I'm honest. I have, on
and off, been thinking of having the op for many years. I was told
by a very close friend to go to the North Downs Hospital to speak
to the consultants there, as she had had minor surgery at the
hospital and was very happy. I called the hospital and was given
the names of a couple of consultants who do breast reduction and I
was on my way.
Next day I had the profiles in front of me, Mr Jones stuck out
to me because of his experience but at this point I had nothing
else to go by but this. I called to make an appointment with him
and waited for a week. I liked him straight away; he was very
friendly and put me at ease. He did say I needed to lose 22 lbs
before he would operate as it would be too much of a danger going
under a general anaesthetic whilst being at my then weight. This
proved to be the making of me as I will never put the weight back
on. I love my new look and plan to lose a little more. I was very
impressed with his advice as I then knew he was not just out to
'make money' so to speak.
I was so excited when he agreed to do the op, on the condition
that I would lose the weight. Having a holiday planned in the USA
for 3 weeks in July/August was not something I was looking forward
to, as I would have to take the new eating plan very seriously.
When I returned from USA I had lost another 1 lb, I was so excited
as this meant we could go ahead as planned.
On the day of the operation I was very calm and felt everything
was going to go brilliantly as I felt very happy and confident in
Martin's abilities as a consultant. We had discussed the
possibility of me going from 36 HH, although having lost all the
weight I was at a 34 GG, to a wonderfully small 34 DD. I would have
loved to be a beautiful 34 D given the choice but I left the clever
stuff to Martin.
I woke to find my enormous 34 GG now at a very small, cute and
beautiful 34 D!!!!! Excited is not the word for it, I was so happy.
I am a very much, a ‘get up and get on with it' sort of girl and
can't be doing with the 'woe is me' attitude. However, I took
Martin’s advice and did nothing for a week. My best friend moved in
and did all the daily chores and some! This has proven to be of
great benefit as I have made such progress and feel great. This
brings us to today, Wednesday. I have just returned from seeing him
and he is so pleased with the results and my general well being. I
can honestly say that I have had no pain whatsoever and only the
smallest amount of discomfort in the first few days. I had very
little swelling and bruising, however, this is personal to me and
you have to be realistic and know that we are all different when
talking about the recovery process. I have now stopped taking the
pain killers and feel and look brilliant, even if I do say so
myself.
I teach at a local school and can't wait to return after our
summer break to show off my new figure. Friends who have seen me so
far say I look amazing and don't look as if I have had a breast
reduction but look as if I have lost loads of weight. This is what
I will be going with when I meet people whom I haven't seen in
ages.
Please feel free to get my phone number from the hospital to
call for a chat if I can help further. I have already passed Martin
Jones’ cards on to some of my friends who wish to use some of his
other surgical skills for themselves. I can not speak more highly
of him as a consultant.
Best wishes. Mo
