Visia Complexion Analysis
Every picture tells a story! - A patient's experience of North
Down's Aesthetic Clinic
Last year I visited North Downs Hospital on the recommendation
of a girlfriend and had my skin analysed using their Visia
Complexion analysis system. I was a little worried at the
thought of what it might show as I have always been a bit of a sun
worshipper but I was really unhappy with my skin and wanted to find
a way to improve it.
Sarah, the aesthetic nurse, started the consultation
by asking me about my concerns with my skin. They were sun damage
and open pores together with some acne scarring on my cheeks.
This meant I used a lot of make up and I was hoping I could change
this.
I was asked to place my face in the Visia
booth and my pictures were taken. Apparently, the computer is
able to analyse to a depth of two millimetres under the skin and my
results were then displayed on the computer monitor for me to
see.
These enabled Sarah to evaluate the health and
condition of my skin based on six indicators that affect the
complexion: pigment spots, sun damage, pores, evenness, (skin tone
and colour variation) and bacteria on the skin.
She
gave me a copy of my pictures together with a recommended treatment
programme and was also able to tell me how my skin compares with
other women of my age and show me on the screen how my skin would
age over five years without treatment.
I was shocked at how sun-damaged my skin was
but Sarah reassured me that there are treatment programmes at North
Downs that would combat this and help to revitalise my skin.
She recommended a course of Pixelperfect®
treatments for my sun damage, open pores and uneven texture.
I had four treatments over a four month period and I was amazed to
see the improvement month on month. The texture, evenness and
sun damage have all improved immensely and this was confirmed by a
follow up session with the Visia computer in January this year.
I am so pleased with the results and have
vowed to never expose my, now blemish-free, skin to sunshine again
without using a high SPF (Sarah advised 25 plus!) again. Now
I’m looking forward to a makeup-free summer.
