Promoting Patient Choice
Blakelands Treatment Centre, in Milton Keynes, has been taking
part in some NHS Road Shows, promoting NHS choice in Banbury,
Oxford, Swindon and Milton Keynes.
The aim was to introduce the public to different ways to find
out about their choices as NHS patients. The events have been
extremely successful, with lots of interested people asking what is
on offer. Horton Treatment Centre, in nearby Banbury, has
also been promoting NHS choice, by taking part in GP education days
in Buckinghamshire. Consultants from the centre made a
series of presentations about detailed clinical topics, including
procedures such as wrist and thumb joint replacements.
Both Blakelands and Horton are modern, purpose-built facilities
specialising in elective surgery for adult NHS patients.
Specialties include orthopaedic and general surgery, endoscopy and
hernia repair. NHS appointments are available through the
national Choose & Book system.
