Health Screening offers the opportunity, with expert assistance,
to assess your health, fitness and disease risk factors. This may
lead to advice on adjustments to your lifestyle which could have an
important impact on your well-being in the long term.
There are many factors which affect our health and these are
influenced by our own genetic make-up and also our lifestyle.
Sometimes even minor changes for the better can make a significant
contribution to our health and cut down on the risk of serious
disease.
At the Fitzwilliam Hospital we offer a range of health
screens tailored to meet your own specific requirements:
Platinum profile
A complete top to toe medical assessment for men or women,
including in-depth consultation and physical examination by the
doctor and a wide range of tests. You will receive an individually
tailored report from your doctor with relevant advice and
recommendations. Duration 2 hours.
Well Person Profile
These are carried out by a specially trained nurse with the
emphasis on specifically men's or women's health concerns. The Well
Woman Profile includes an ultrasound scan of the pelvic area and
the Well Man profile includes an ultrasound scan of the testes.
These scans are reported on by a consultant radiologist. Individual
report with advice and recommendations is received from the
nurse.
Duration 1 hour.
Well man plus
This is a health profile and urological assessment for men over
the age of 45. The Profile includes a consultation and physical
examination with our Consultant Urologist.
Duration 1 hour.
Well woman breast screening (40+)
Breast screens are carried out by our specially trained nurse
and include breast awareness guidance and mammography. Mammograms
are reported on by a consultant radiologist.
Cervical Cytology Screening
Using the latest liquid cytology technique: the sample is taken
in the same way as a conventional smear but the results are more
accurate and "inadequate" results are rare. Rapid verbal
notification of results is part of this service.

Travel clinic
for travel advice, fitness to travel assessments, emigration
medicals, vaccinations, anti-malarials and other supplies. We are a
UK Yellow Fever Centre.
Recreational medicals
Fitness assessments prior to parachute jumps, diving etc.
Driver medicals
HGV, LGV, PSV, Taxi Driver, Sport.
Occupational Health Medicals
Pre-employment, fitness to work, special risk e.g. paint
sprayers.
Flu Vaccinations
Available from the end of October. Why not have a pre- winter
check-up and vaccination at the same time?

- Lifestyle analysis
- Height, weight and body mass index
- Body fat percentage
- Blood pressure and pulse
- Full urine laboratory analysis (including tests for blood,
protein and glucose)
- Electrocardiogram (ECG)
- Coronary (heart) risk assessment
- Lung function tests
- Hearing test
- Vision test
- Full blood count (to detect diseases of the blood)
- Biochemistry (to assess liver and kidney functions)
- Blood tests to detect diabetes and gout
- Full lipid profile (to measure the levels of blood fats
including cholesterol)
- Bowel cancer screen (if required)
- Testicular self-examination guidance for men
- Prostate blood test for men over 45 (if clinically
indicated)
- Breast awareness guidance for women
- Thyroid blood test for women over 40
Tests available with platinum profile at addional cost:
- Abdominal Ultrasound Scan (including pelvic scan for women and
testicular scan for men)
- Dexa Scan for bone density assessment
- Cervical Cytology
