Mr Peter Baranyovits MBchB, FRCS (Lon),
FRCOphth
Mr Peter Baranyovits qualified in 1979 at the Birmingham Medical
School. He started on the West Midlands rotation as a registrar,
and has specialised in ophthalmology since 1981. In 1991 he was
appointed a consultant at the Kettering General Hospital and is now
lead clinician in the eye department and manages the corneal
service.
Mr Baranyovits has a special interest in refractive surgery,
cataracts and plastics. He is married with 8 children and his
interests in his spare time are travelling and cycling.
Mr Deepak Chitkara MBChB, DO, FRCOphth
Mr Deepak Chitkara has established a reputation over the last 10
years as one of the leading refractive surgeons in the UK. He
developed a passion for refractive surgery after completing his
Fellowship in corneal and refractive surgery with distinction under
Professor Marguerite McDonald in the USA in 1994/5.
After graduating from Manchester University with honours in
Physiology and Biochemistry and training in both the UK and USA, Mr
Chitkara was a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon in Walton Hospital,
Liverpool, from 1995 to 2001. In Liverpool, he set up the cornea
service in Walton Hospital. Since then, he has been in full time
private practice, specialising in Cataract and refractive
(corrective) eye surgery.
Mr Chitkara was one of the earliest adopters of many refractive
techniques in the UK such as Intacs and Phakic implants such as the
ICL (Visian Implant). He was the first surgeon in Europe to perform
Reading Implant surgery. His main interests are in the treatment of
Presbyopia. He is one of the first surgeons in the UK to
investigate and develop Accommodative Implants for use in
refractive lens surgery. He helped to develop the Kellan Tetraflex
accommodative Implant and was in fact the first surgeon in the
world to implant this widely popular Implant for surgical use. He
remains one of the most widely experienced refractive surgeons in
the UK.
Mr Chitkara is a member of the European Refractive Committee for
Bausch & Lomb. He was formerly a committee member of the UK and
Ireland Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and is a member
of the European and American Society of Cataract and Refractive
Surgery. He has also extensively published research papers in peer
reviewed journals and is credited with several chapters in
reference textbooks.
Mr Deepak Chitkara utilises the complete spectrum of surgical
procedures for correction of refractive errors and offers his
clientele a highly professional and confidential atmosphere.
Mr Naseer Raja MBBS (Punjab), MCPS Ophth, FRCS Ophth, FCRS
Ophth
Mr Naseer Raja completed his clinical training in the UK and at
the University of Crete in Greece in 2001. His appointments have
taken him from Pakistan, to St Paul’s Eye Hospital in Liverpool,
Bedfordshire NHS, and now where he is at the Milton Keynes
Treatment Centre.
Mr Raja is an experienced General Ophthalmic Surgeon with over
10 years experience as a full time consultant. He has special
interests in refractive surgery, cataracts and glaucoma
surgery.
