Knee Replacement – Lottery winners enjoy knees Up
According to a report in the Daily Mail, a National
Lottery winner had an unusual way of spending his winnings. After
winning £2.5m Tony Dodd bought knee replacement surgery for him and
his wife, Greta.
Knee replacement procedures are becoming increasingly
commonplace in the UK as people live longer and the stresses that
this causes on joints, particularly knees and hips, are heightened.
A full knee replacement operation can alleviate the pain of walking
and other everyday tasks for those with chronic joint problems.
According to the report in the Daily Mail, Tony and Greta Dodd,
both in their late 60’s, decided that the first thing that they
wanted to purchase with their substantial lottery winnings was knee
replacement surgery so that they could both improve their
mobility.
Knee Replacement – Dancing a merry dance
After overcoming the shock of a lottery win amount to just under
£2.5m, Tony and Greta Dodd were adamant and in total agreement
about what their first purchase should be. They OAP couple, who
both suffered from substantial joint pain, decided that knee
replacement surgery should be top of their priority list. Speaking
to the Daily Mail, the lottery winner, Tony Dodd stated, “As soon
as it sank in that this money was for real we decided the first
thing we want is a new pair of knees each. We have both been told
that our knees are worn out. Mine went first and now Greta's have
gone the same way. Walking any distance can be agony.” A knee
replacement operation can be a very successful means of achieving
pain free movement in the knees and mobility is substantially
improved, making knee replacement recipients able to carry out
activities that would ordinarily be a struggle.
Knee Replacement – Celebrating to do
After their knee replacement procedures, Tony and Greta Dodd
plan to do some serious celebrating. According to the report in the
Daily Mail, Mrs Dodd plans a trip to Las Vegas with her best friend
and believes the knee replacement operation will give her and her
husband a new lease of life. Knee replacement procedures are
undergoing improvements all the time and the freedom which patients
often receive from having new joints is, some might say,
priceless.
