Private hospitals see surge in cosmetic surgery demand
Reports suggest that more Brits are booking themselves
into private hospitals and turning to cosmetic
surgery.
Private hospitals see cosmetic demand surge
Private hospitals can cater to those searching for cosmetic
solutions by providing a discreet, confidential service. Only those
disfigured from breast cancer or an accident will be guaranteed
cosmetic reconstruction surgery from the NHS – but you can receive
the best treatment, without judgement, no matter how big or small
you think you’re problem is through private hospitals.
Cosmetic Treatments on the Rise
And a survey in 2007 shows that more people are turning to
private hospitals as demand for cosmetic surgery soars. It’s
predicted Brits will spend over £1bn on cosmetic surgery in 2008.
The survey found 577,000 people had cosmetic treatments in private
hospitals and with the NHS in 2007, compared to just 300,000 in
2005. Its important those seeking cosmetic surgery, even non
surgical procedures considered less risky, should seek out
reputable private hospitals and doctors. There is a growing concern
that some non-invasive procedures are being carried out by
beauticians rather than medically qualified staff. The fall-out can
be devastating if a procedure goes wrong; patients should always
seek out private hospitals with a strong reputation for general
health care as well as cosmetic procedures. The survey found:
- Facelifts and breast surgery were the two most popular surgical
procedures at private hospitals
- Nose jobs were the most popular procedure for men; breast
enlargement the most popular for women
If you are considering cosmetic surgery, make sure you choose
your surgeon with care. As well as an increase in demand, surveys
show that almost half of Britons would consider going under the
knife to improve their looks: 44% of us would consider surgery and
57% of new mums surveyed said they would consider a tummy
tuck.
