Acquired Brain Injury (ABI)
Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) is an injury to the brain which is
not hereditary, congenital, degenerative or induced by birth
trauma. It is an injury that has occurred after birth. This may
result in mild, moderate or severe impairment in one or more areas,
including cognition, speech- language, communication, memory,
attention and concentration, reasoning, abstract thinking, physical
functions, psycho-social behaviour and information processing.
Symptoms are very similar to those caused by traumatic brain
injury.
