Oaks Hospital Physiotherapists
Jo Hutchinson
Jo is the department manager. She graduated from King's College
Hospital and worked for many years at the Ipswich NHS Trust .She
specialised first in inpatient orthopaedics and subsequently in
lower limb musculo-skeletal outpatient work. Jo enjoys gardening,
sailing and ballroom and Latin American dancing. She joined the
Oaks in 1997, and combines inpatient orthopaedic rehabilitation
with her duties as a Manager.
Outpatient team
Katrina Wade
Qualified in 1984 and worked initially in Bury St Edmunds and
Sudbury before joining Ramsay at their hospital in Chelmsford.
She came to Oaks 9 years ago and began specialising in Women's and
Men's Health 6 years ago. She is a member of the Oaks
multi-disciplinary breast care team.Katrina is a keen gardener and
dog lover. Clinical Speciality; she is a clinical specialist in
Women's and Men's Health which includes treating bladder and bowel
continence , pelvic pain problems and problems associated with
breast surgery scars.
Amanda Robson
Qualified at The University of East Anglia in 1996, and worked
initially at the Queen Elizabeth NHS Trust in King's Lynn. In her
spare time she coaches the trampoline to National level. She now
divides her work time between the Ipswich NHS Trust, and Oaks,
treating all musculo-skeletal problems and injuries, but has
extended qualifications in the treatment of hand problems and
injuries. Clinical Speciality; Hand therapy
Uschi Grounds
Uschi qualified as an orthopaedic nurse before then getting her
Physiotherapy degree in 1988. She worked at Broomfield Hospital NHS
Trust and Springfield Hospital before coming to Oaks
Hospital in 1993. Uschi has enormous experience in treating
all musculo-skeletal problems. In her spare time she plays the
guitar and violin. Clinical speciality; musculo-skeletal
treatments, with extended knowledge of the problems associated with
the shoulder complex.
Adam May
Adam attained his Physiotherapy Degree at the University of East
Anglia in 2003, and worked at the James Paget and the Ipswich NHS
Trust for 3 years prior to joining the Oaks Team. Adam has been a
rugby player for 18 years and now has 3 years part time experience
working as a physiotherapist with elite rugby teams and with the
Lawn Tennis Association. He is currently studying for his MSC in
neuro-musculoskeletal Physiotherapy at the University of East
London. Clinical Speciality; Acute and sub acute injuries, and
sports injuries.
Caroline Munro
Caroline attained her Physiotherapy degree in 2003 from
Southampton University. She worked at King's College Hospital in
London before joining Oaks in 2005. In her spare time Caroline
enjoys horse riding , swimming and playing the flute and the
piccolo. As well as working within the Outpatient team, Caroline
runs the physiotherapy input into the pre-admission orthopaedic
clinics. Clinical Speciality; musculo-skeletal disorders.
Rebecca Manser
Attained her Physiotherapy degree at the University of
Hertfordshire in 2001. She then worked for the Milton Keynes NHS
Trust and the Northampton Primary Care Trust. She moved to Essex in
2005 when she joined the Oaks Outpatient Team. She has a keen
interest in sport, especially badminton, golf , cricket and tennis.
Clinical Speciality; Sporting injuries and rehabilitation of spinal
problems .
Lianne Jongepier
Lianne qualified in 1994, and began specialising in respiratory
care soon afterwards when she joined the staff of the Royal
Brompton Hospital in London. She works at Oaks part time alongside
her job in the NHS as Service Lead for the Community Respiratory
Team working with patients with emphysema and chronic bronchitis.
Clinical Speciality; Treating patients suffering from chronic
obstructive airways disease, bronchiectasis, and breathing pattern
disorders.
Denise Wills
Denise qualified as a Physiotherapist at Guy's Hospital in
1988.She then worked at the Southend and Basildon Hospitals as well
as working in a private clinic in Southend. She has specialised in
the treatment of paediatrics since 1990, and has extensive
qualifications in that area, including the highly prized Bobath
diploma. Denise now works for Oaks part time alongside her job at
the Southend NHS Trust . Outside work, Denise enjoys running and
looking after her family. Clinical Speciality; treatment of
orthopaedic, respiratory and neurological paediatric
patients.
Inpatient Team
Sarah Heard
Sarah gained her Physiotherapy Degree at the University of East
Anglia in 1996. She completed her junior rotations at Colchester
General NHS, before deciding to specialise in treating
musculo-skeletal problems and injuries, including dance related
injuries.
She joined Oaks Hospital in 2000, initially working in
the Outpatient Department, but more recently has become the
Inpatient Team Leader. Clinical Speciality; Orthopaedic
rehabilitation, treatment of musculo-skeletal problems, qualified
acupuncturist, and qualified Pilates Instructor.
Louise Brooks
Louise qualified in 1980 and subsequently gained the post
graduate qualification in Women's Health in 1987. She worked for 20
years at Colchester NHS Trust specialising in Obstetrics, Women's
Health and Pelvic pain. She is now part of our inpatient team on
the ward helping to rehabilitate patients mainly after orthopaedic
and gynaecological surgery.
Louise is a keen gardener, and sings with the Lion Walk church
choir, as well as playing the oboe and making stained glass window
panels. Clinical Speciality; Louise treats all women's continence
and pelvic pain problems. She also has extensive expertise in pre
and post natal back problems.
Tina Brosnan
Tina graduated in 2001 from King's College Hospital in London
having had a previous career in commerce in New York and Tenerife.
She worked at Basildon NHS Trust, mainly as an inpatient
physiotherapist, before joining Oaks Hospital in
2005.
Tina is now an asset to the inpatient physiotherapy team with
her experience in respiratory and neurological patients. Her spare
time is taken up with looking after 3 young children. Clinical
Speciality; Neurological rehabilitation, particularly for patients
who have suffered a stroke.
