Mr Alwitry is an expert in a range of eye surgeries and treatments including cataract and refractive surgery, premium lenses, phakic lenses, glaucoma treatments, glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, dry eye, corneal problems and lid surgery. He has a special post graduate degree in Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He has a five star rating on Doctify.
He has published more than 40 pieces in the world literature, written three text books, written the Ophthalmology Chapter for the 6th edition of Clinical Negligence and is due to publish a text book on complaints and litigation for all medical doctors.
He is an an experienced and caring Consultant Ophthalmologist working in the NHS and privately. He prides himself on the quality of care he provides to his patients and believes that patients need a standard of care that he would expect for his own family. Mr Alwitry undertakes more than 1600 cataract procedures a year and has been specifically trained in Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He has also obtained his Masters in Medical Law and does a lot of work for the NHS defending doctors who have done their best and giving evidence against doctors who have failed their patients. His professional moto is ‘be kind to your patient’. NHS work is his raison d’etre however in the private sector he has the opportunity to really push the boundaries and give my patients next generation vision.
In 2020 Mr Alwitry was crowned Eye Surgeon of the Year for the East Midlands in the Private Healthcare Awards. He was also the 2019 Global 100 winner of the Best Eye Surgeon in the UK.
