Oaks Hospital is part of Ramsay Health Care UK, one of the leading independent healthcare providers in England. The hospital has an excellent reputation for delivering high quality healthcare for patients with health insurance, patients who are self-funding treatment or  NHS patients exercising choice through the e-referral system.

Improvement Works

We would like to inform you that our hospital is currently undergoing improvement works to enhance your experience. As part of these efforts, we have contactors on-site carrying out various projects, including the installation of a new pathway from the main entrance to the MRI reception area. While these enhancements are aimed at providing you with better facilities, please do allow extra time for parking and navigating around the premises. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your cooperation as we strive to create a more comfortable and efficient environment for your care.

Directions to Oaks Hospital

By car
Oaks Hospital has a maximum of 83 spaces dedicated for patients and visitors. Please note that our car park has a number plate recognition system in place. You will need to register your vehicle number plate upon arrival each time you visit the hospital using one of the tablets which are located in the following areas; main reception, radiology department, ward (first floor) and outpatient department.

Cycling
Oaks Hospital has a cycle shelter which is located at the rear of the building. This area is covered by CCTV. Mile End Road is a quiet road and is close to the national cycle network route which leads from Colchester North Station to Highwoods and the community football stadium.

By Bus
Oaks Hospital is served by Arriva number 2 bus which runs every 20 minutes from Colchester town centre towards Great Horkesley. The bus stops are located just past the entrance to Oaks Place

By Train
Oaks Hospital is a convenient 10 -15 minute walk from Colchester North Station. The Greater Anglia network connects with Marks Tey, Chappel & Wakes Colne, Colchester Hythe, Wivenhoe, Harwich, Clacton and beyond.

Park and Ride 
Oaks Hospital is a 5 minute walk from the bus stop for the Park and Ride serving the General Hospital (on the Northern Approach Road). Colchester Park and Ride is based at junction 28 of the A12 and operates Monday – Friday from 05:30 until just after 21:00; the service operates between 07:00 – 19:00 on Saturdays. There is no Sunday service.

Visiting Hours

Friends and relatives are welcome to visit patients in Oaks Hospital at any reasonable time of the day, subject to medical considerations, although we would appreciate if visits could be made between 9am-9pm. 

We do ask that you be considerate to others in the hospital. Lots of noise and many people can be very distressing to some patients. Please respect their need for rest and privacy. Children are very welcome but they must be supervised by an adult at all times.

It presents our achievements in terms of clinical excellence, effectiveness, safety and patient experience and demonstrates that our managers, clinicians and staff are all committed to providing continuous, evidence based, quality care to those people we treat. It will also show that we regularly scrutinise every service we provide with a view to improving it and ensuring that our patient’s treatment outcomes are the best they can be. It will give a balanced view of what we are good at and what we need to improve on.
