At Ramsay, we pride ourselves on having the most dedicated staff who constantly strive for excellence and innovation. Among an already elite staff at Boston West Hospital, we can now boast award-winning Nurse Ann Wagstaff.

Ann joined the team in February and it recently came to light that she won the prestigious Student Nursing Times award in 2017. The awards are considered the Oscars of the nursing education world and recognise excellence in nursing and midwifery teaching and learning across the UK. Ann was nominated for her Mental Capacity Plan for dementia patients.

She identified that vulnerable patients were in need of Safeguarding assessment and presented her plan at the annual Safeguarding Meeting. The Mental Capacity Plan is now being used Trust wide at Grantham, Lincoln, Louth and Boston.

Ann said: ‘It’s nice that I won a Student Nursing Times award four years ago; it feels like growing up as a nurse. I feel honoured that someone saw me in a way that is classed as exceptional. I never see myself that way, to me it is my job.'
