A NHS direct access upper gastrointestinal diagnostic endoscopy service has been reintroduced to North East Essex and is available at Oaks Hospital. This service will provide GPs with a direct route to obtaining diagnostic information for those patients who are experiencing upper gastrointestinal disturbances and whom you assess as having a clinically lower likelihood of a sinister pathology and whom have not responded adequately to first line treatments / management provided or who are aged 55 or over. Patients can be referred to Oaks either though e-RS or as a paper referral.
From routine blood tests to complex histology analysis, we can provide a comprehensive range of blood tests and investigations. Our phlebotomy service is available daily, with results sent to the referring clinician. Pathology specimens are tested with fast turnaround times; most results can be made available within 24-48 hours.
We offer treatment and specialist services to patients of all ages with physical problems caused by illness, accident or ageing including back, neck and shoulder pain, upper and lower limb conditions, sports injuries, post-operative rehabilitation and posture-related problems. The Physiotherapy Department is staffed by professional and experienced Chartered Physiotherapists. Referrals are accepted from consultants and GPs; however self-paying patients may refer themselves for physiotherapy.
