The Cherwell Hospital, part of Ramsay Health Care UK, was pleased to welcome Sean Woodcock MP, Labour Member of Parliament for Banbury, for a tour of the hospital and to meet staff, and gain a deeper understanding of how The Cherwell Hospital supports the local community.
During the visit, Mr Woodcock found out more about the services the hospital delivers to patients across Banbury and Oxfordshire, and had the opportunity to meet both clinical and support staff. He also learned more about the hospital’s partnership with the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and gained a broader insight into the independent healthcare providers’ role in supporting the NHS and privately funded patients.
Sean Woodcock MP praised the vital role The Cherwell Hospital plays in improving the health and wellbeing of his constituents, welcoming its contribution to reducing waiting times in line with the government’s focus on timely treatment – while recognising the financial pressures facing the healthcare system.
The Cherwell Hospital is run by Ramsay Health Care UK, one of the leading providers of independent hospital services in England, with a network of 34 hospitals and over 60 years of global expertise in healthcare. The Cherwell Hospital has been supporting the local community for nearly 20 years, and is tailored for orthopaedic care, with its on-site Imaging Department which offers X-Ray, Ultrasound and MRI, and a dedicated physiotherapy unit complete with a rehabilitation gym. The hospital also offers other treatments such as ophthalmology.
Sean Woodcock MP for Banbury commented:
“It was great to visit the Cherwell Hospital and see the work they do supporting patients in the local area. Facilities like these are vital to our community, and I am grateful for their contributions to improving the health of patients in Banbury, and the wider Oxfordshire area.”
Boris Wagner, Hospital Director for The Cherwell Hospital added:
“It was a delight to welcome Sean Woodcock MP at The Cherwell Hospital to showcase our role within the wider healthcare community, delivering care to patients when they need it.
At The Cherwell Hospital, we put our patients’ needs at the heart of everything we do, and we are committed to delivering a seamless experience that gives patients and their families confidence and reassurance at every step of their journey with us. We’re proud to be working with the NHS and to play a key role in tackling waiting lists.”
Ramsay Health Care UK continues to invest in its hospitals and services to support patient access and deliver excellent clinical outcomes. As part of its commitment to wider social responsibility, Ramsay UK also works closely with the Purpose Coalition and has published two Social Impact Reports, the most recent in January 2025, outlining its work in tackling health inequalities and supporting communities across the UK.
