Patient Choice was introduced as a government initiative to give NHS patients more choice about where and when they are treated. NHS patients who need hospital treatment can choose any participating hospital that offers the treatment.
The current NHS waiting time is 18 weeks from seeing your GP to treatment.
If you want an earlier appointment for your consultation, procedure or treatment, you might want to consider continuing your treatment privately, so that it fits around you, rather than remaining as an NHS patient.
