I recently visited North Downs Hospital on the 11th of September, for the first of two Carpal Tunnel Decompression procedures. I have suffered with Bilateral Carpal Tunnel Syndrome for 24 years, and coupled with my history of unpredictable Idiopathic Anaphylaxis and adverse reactions to many medications, I was understandably quite nervous. From the moment we arrived, the Main Reception staff were warm, welcoming and professional, immediately putting me at ease. While my partner was not allowed into the Day Care Unit , due to protecting the privacy of the all female patients in the unit that day, I fully understand the reason and truly appreciated how kind and reassuring the staff were towards me in his absence. I would like to give special recognition to my Consultant, Mr. Shafighian, an outstanding surgeon, whose professionalism and reassurance were exceptional and comforting. I also want to highlight Nicole, my Theatre Nurse, whose dedication, empathy, and constant support never left me feeling alone. She stayed right by my side throughout the surgery, providing reassurance and comfort every step of the way, and her professionalism, kindness and compassion, made a profound difference to my experience. Nicola, my Nurse in the Day Care unit, also provided outstanding support before and after the procedure. I would like to ensure that Mr Shafighian, Nicole, and Nicola receive my personal recognition for their outstanding care, while also thanking the Anaesthetist, all Theatre Staff, and the wider team, whose professionalism and kindness made a potentially stressful procedure much more manageable. Thanks to their dedication, I now feel confident and fully reassured to return for my second surgery, knowing that I am in such capable and compassionate hands. Many Thanks again. 5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I had pre op treatment and major surgery here. Cleanliness:I'd say it's super clean which makes you feel comfortable. The bedding is fab. Very comfortable. Welcome: the staff are attentive and professional. Empathy: negatives first . A physio made me uncomfortable, unwell and extremely rushed. Positives: Great kindness from certain members of staff. Kindly surgeon, pleasant anaesthetists and doctors. Some really lovely kind nurses. I was moved carefully and without causing pain. Communication: a little confusing. Mostly very good. Pre op assessment: Excellent. Care: not much hands on personal care, was expected to wash on my own but I was not very safe really. In such pain. In the booklet it said I would be washed in bed, but no. Good: Ok meal not fab, but nice sandwiches. Excellent tea and biscuits. Pain management : good , they ensure you have your meds but twice forgot to remove the bag from the cannula. After care: good. You are given information and exercises. Overall excellent. Can't grumble excellent NHS funded. So lucky. Special mentions for wonderful Dr Kantak and Maggie and I J.

I had a laparoscopy at North Downs Saturday just gone. It’s now 48h post op. I cannot thank the wonderful staff enough, they made me feel at ease, made me feel comfortable, made me feel heard and seen. The procedure went well, I was home by 3pm the same day with all the information I needed. A special thankyou to Natalie who took care of me on the day ward, from doing my stats etc to chit chatting away with me - it really made me feel so much better & was hugely appreciated. If ever I need another procedure, I’ll be coming straight back here no doubt. Absolutely fantastic.
