I was in terrible knee pain with persistent swelling. Mr Malek saw me and recommended full replacement surgery with about 12 months wait, as it turned out it was only 7 months. The admission was easy and efficient followed by the surgery. Initially, I had a lot of pain for the first couple of days and lots of swelling. I didn't respond very well to the pain killers and so ended up just using paracetamol. As it was once the initial trauma was over the pain was much less than I was experiencing before the op. 8 weeks down the line I'm walking almost normally and just having a bit of swelling if I so too much. The best bit of advice - do the exercises the physios give you no matter what! X

The Staff at the Hospital were all very friendly but also very professional. Nothing was too much trouble. I was in hospital longer than expected but not once was I made to feel that I had overstayed my welcome. The Staff made sure the problems I was experiencing were sorted before I was discharged.

My overall experience from my first appointment with Dr Malek to admission in hospital. Also the caring and support from Dr Malek /Anaesthetist/ all nursing staff/physio/was exceptional. Also would highly recommend rowley hospital to anyone who I know if they were undecided where to go for knee or hip replacement.

The hospital is clean and friendly although the building is a bit dated it works well, the only minor problem is as with all hospitals is that the car parking being difficult.

All staff from Cleaners to the ward Sisters were great. My stay was faultless. Food very good.
