  • I had my right hip replacement 12th July 2025 . I was treated very well well by all staff. The theatre team did an excellent job and the replacement to date appears successful. I had my other hip replaced about 18th months ago and that was successful . The surgeon Mr Sachin Badhe is a top man.

  • My husband has just come home after a hip replacement. It has been a massively positive experience. The staff have all been amazing, very friendly, efficient and caring. Ray's nurse Raymond has been brilliant, making sure Ray understood everything, explaining things in detail and being very attentive. The physio was lovely, explaining procedures well. The catering staff were very friendly and polite and the food was delicious. The Receptionists are the friendliest we have ever encountered and really helpful. Thank-you to the consultant and anaesthetist who both did a sterling job.

  • I just had Mohs surgery done at this hospital. Dr Varma, Genie & Rachael were just incredible. Dr Varma fully set my expectations and was incredibly calming and reassuring throughout the procedure. The procedures were painless as promised. While my partner and I waited between procedure stages, the staff couldn’t do enough for us both although it was just me having a procedure done. Lovely lunch for us both and kept checking in on us with lovely refreshments in a very nice private waiting area. Thank you Dr Varma and to your team for taking me from a state of sever anxiety and worry to not just calm but a smiling and confident state! Having skin cancer was far from pleasant but you and your wonderful team took the worry away and I left cancer free! My best L Kallis

  • My whole experience of the Woodthorpe Hospital has been fantastic. This experience commenced as soon as I started communicating with the patient team, who immediately went out of their way to sort my initial and follow up appointments in as timely a manner as possible. This same team then helped fit me in with a consultant in an emergency capacity due to my knee completely locking. During this appointment I was immediately booked in for an operation 1 week later. The operation day ran very smoothly from my check in, to meeting the consultant and anaesthetist to the nurse who looked after me during the day. Everything went to time and ran like clockwork including seeing the physio before I left mid afternoon. I couldn’t have been looked after any better and the whole experience ran so smoothly and I am now fully on the road to recovery. Thanks to everyone at the Woodthorpe hospital, keep up the great work

  • Overall, the experience was excellent. The only downside was when the first cataract operation was cancelled due to a technical issue.

  • Im currently recuperating after a full knee replacement at Woodthorpe Hospital. I previously had a hip replacement years earlier which was a big step for me at the time. I had 5 star treatment on both occasions and cannot thank every member of the staff enough. 100% Professional and the communication throughout was exellent. In every area I felt comfortable, from admission staff through to Mr Hatton the surgeon and his team. The after care from nurses/ Physio and everyone at the Hospital was a credit to Health care. Thank you.

  • Just had a total knee replacement performed by Mr Hatton and his team. Went in 12 noon yesterday and now back home. I can't praise this service enough. Had my other knee replaced two years ago but this time with this surgeon and anaesthetist my experience was far superior. The after effects of the spinal block and sedative were minimal. I was alert and 'with it' much faster than before and, although my leg is swollen there is no sign of the extensive bruising I had last time. Not only am I happy with their treatment but every member of staff I met need their praises sung. All were sympathetic, friendly and clearly happy in their work. A special mention for Gen, my main nurse. Such a lovely person, a good sense of humour and clearly good at her job. I had total confidence in the procedures and care I received. I am an NHS patient and if you are offered treatment at this hospital I would highly recommend you accept.

  • Three weeks ago I underwent a full knee replacement operation at Woodthorpe Hospital in Nottingham This hospital is part of The Ramsay group of private hospitals but I was treated there as a referred NHS patient. At the age of 68 I have been fortunate in needing very little serious medical care and this was my first major operation. I genuinely cannot speak highly enough of the care and service I received at this facility at, quite literally, every level of interaction I had during my short stay with them. This, without any exception includes everyone from the lady in reception when I arrived at 7am on the morning of the operation, to the brilliant porter who took me down to be picked up by my wife the following day who explained how to get in and out of a car with a gammy leg. Everything I was to experience in the thirty or so hours I was with them was carried out with care, compassion and above all complete professionalism. I was shown to my room where everything was explained to me concerning the facilities there. The days procedure was then explained and that went like clockwork. The surgeon came in and welcomed me and explained what was to happen, he was followed shortly after by the anaesthetist who fully explained what he was going to do and reassured me about what he was going to do. A very short time later I was taken to a pre-operation room which was a whirlwind of good humoured activity where I was quickly prepared for surgery. I was given a spinal block anaesthetic and wheeled in for the operation. The whole thing was over within less than an hour and after more wonderful care in a recovery room I found myself back in my room. From that point onward I was treated to the most amazing care by a group of nurses who were just amazing. Once the anaesthetic wore off they instantly saw to controlling the inevitable pain which followed and reduced this to perfectly manageable proportions. The great thing was their firmness in getting me moving quickly and within a few hours and one nurse in particular made sure that I was, unbelievably out of bed within hours using the toilet and washing myself all due to her help and encouragement. The catering staff were brilliant and even changed what I'd originally asked for when I found my need for any food greatly reduced. During the night I was looked after by another shift of nurses whom I had to summon twice. They were there almost instantly and saw to my needs again with great care and professionalism. Wonderful people all of them. The following day I was seen on no less than three occasions by the ward physiotherapist who again had me up and about on crutches explaining fully what I had to do in the weeks following the operation to aid my own recovery. I was supplied with phone numbers in the event I needed further help after leaving the hospital prior to my follow up appointments. In conclusion, if Woodthorpe is a typical example of the care offered by Ramsay Healthcare, which I fully believe it is, it is an example of how all healthcare facilities in the UK should be run. They were end to end brilliant in every department. It's three weeks since I had the operation and I am already walking again without the need for crutches. It's with a hell of a limp but I know that I'll soon be back to normal again. Thank you Ramsay Healthcare. Update 8th July 2025 On the 4th May this year I was fortunate enough to have my right knee joint completely replaced at Woodthorpe Hospital once again. Once more the treatment I was given was nothing short of perfect in every way. From the surgery to the nursing following the operation and even the lady who looked after my feeding needs. The follow up physio treatment too was perfect. All in all absolutely brilliant throughout. Thanks again to this brilliant hospital and all of its staff.
