  • I felt so well cared for, communication was great all the way through my operation. The nurses and staff were lovely and very helpful. Kelly and Eve on nights were amazing and Danny on day shift was so professional friendly and thoughtful. Food was excellent and aftercare brilliant. Highly recommended if considering the Woodthorpe Hospital

  • The medical team were great and explained things before the op. More advice on aftercare from the nursing team would have been helpful as I had to call them twice to get advice on how best to sleep and if side effects from the op were normal or not. Trying to to eat a sandwich with a dry mouth straight after an op was impossible so some thought on food needs to be considered ie. soup or soft fruit would have been better. Overall good care and would recommend.

  • As a recent patient for cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal surgery) I received outstanding patient care from my initial consultation, through to diagnostic tests and surgery. All staff from reception to catering, nursing to surgeons and anaesthetists left me feeling safe and reassured. I wouldn’t hesitate to visit Woodthorpe again for any future care needs.

  • After a shoulder operation I had physio with Dimple and she was amazing. She takes the time to explain and demonstrate how and why the exercises work. Listens to your experience and finds a way through to improve things just for you. All the patience in the world. Wonderful

  • Very good but I’ve been sent to QMC because of the problems my eye surgery might be due to an incident I had with a bleed in the back of my eye

  • I had a Dupuytrens contracture release on the little finger at Woodthorpe 8 weeks ago. NHS patient. The initial surgery by Mr Badhe, was more traumatic than I expected but the experience was very positive. The surgical team were very efficient and there was a high degree of professionalism which was reassuring. The hospital is clean and staffing levels appear better than average. Being non acute Woodthorpe lacks the chaotic madness that seems to envelope larger hospitals like Kings Mill or QMC with A&E departments. This means everyone seems more chilled and has a little time to chat and keep patients informed. Aftercare was on the whole good. I did get 2 appointments on consecutive days which after asking were combined. The text service was a little confusing initially but has improved now I think. My physio -Helen o’Hara was good and listened to my concerns and helped me manage my expectations! Initially my wound was rather difficult to manage but fortunately my wife is a nurse! I do wonder how others less fortunate might manage the first week or two. The hand therapy unit should, however, get a special shout out for access and flexibility. Finally the Woodthorpe does have fairly limited parking (free) but street parking in the locality is free also and fairly easy to find as long as you can walk a short distance. 😀👌

  • Overall I had a really positive experience at Woodthorpe Hospital. The reception staff were very friendly and the team that cared for me were overall very good. I was on a day case and felt very drowsy after the anaesthetic. The staff looked after me well as I was on my own. The food was lovely and nothing was too much trouble. There was a little miscommunication between nurses on change over which delayed me leaving but overall I can't fault the care I received. I felt very well looked after.

  • Superb care and communication from start to finish. Mr Gosh is an angel in every way, so kind and empathetic. Explained everything in great detail. His secretaries were just a kind. Nothing was too much trouble for them and responded to any queries straight away with a kind word. I can't praise the nursing staff, anesthetic, and supporting staff enough. They made me feel so comfortable and again nothing was too much trouble. A big thanks to Mr Gosh for his care and compassion. Would highly recommend The Woodthorpe. Also, I can't forget the lovely welcome by all reception staff. They explained everything to me and always greeted me with a gentle smile. Superb.
