Mr Chris Derham is a full time Consultant Neurosurgeon and spinal surgeon at the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS trust since 2014. Following medical school training at the Royal Free Hospital, London, he completed his neurosurgical training in the Yorkshire region, and obtained a doctorate of Medicine with distinction at the the University of Leeds in the field of tissue regeneration. He was awarded the National Spine Fellowship in Leeds in 2012 for one year and later a European Association of Neurosurgery (EANS) Spine Fellowship, allowing him to spend several months in Innsbruck, Austria.
He practices all modalities of spinal surgery, including complex cranio-cervical junction abnormalities, spinal tumours, and minimally invasive approaches.
