Duchy Hospital proudly marked a significant milestone with the official opening of its state-of-the-art Imaging and Outpatient Suite on Monday, 10th November 2025. The new facility represents a major investment in patient care, designed to enhance diagnostic capabilities and improve the overall experience for patients across Cornwall.
The opening ceremony was honoured by the presence of Sir Edward Bolitho, Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall, who officially unveiled the new department. Joining the celebration were Nick Costa, Chief Executive Officer of Ramsay Health Care UK, alongside colleagues from across the organisation and valued external partners.

The Imaging and Outpatient Suite features advanced diagnostic technology, including a state-of-the-art MRI scanner, which significantly expands Duchy Hospital’s clinical capabilities. This investment enables the hospital to offer a broader range of services, such as spinal surgery, by providing high-resolution imaging essential for accurate diagnosis and surgical planning.
Louise Rowbotham, Hospital Director at Duchy Hospital commented:"This new suite is a testament to our dedication to investing in services that matter most to our patients. We are proud to strengthen our capabilities here at Duchy Hospital and continue supporting the health and wellbeing of the Cornish community."
The Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall praised the initiative, highlighting its positive impact on local healthcare provision and the collaborative effort that made the project possible.
