Having just had my gallbladder surgery I was happy with the care I received. They were all very friendly and professional. Thanks to all the staff I had contact with through the whole procedure, from the original consultation to leaving after the surgery. A special thanks to my consultant Mr Griffith and Laura Moore, who looked after me once I was back on the ward. The added touch of a phone call 2 days late to ask how I was and to get in touch if I had any problems or questions was appreciated. Thanks again to all the staff, wish I could remember all their names!

Writing this review on behalf of my wife Sue Davies: "After feelng apprehensive and stressed about the health assessment (never having done one before) & being a total wimp when I had a blood test; meeting Louise made me feel so much better. She was kind, friendly and professional. I felt completely at ease with her. She explained all the preocedures and asked interested and relevant questions. I will be coming back next year. Also much respect to Dr Lucy Maw.

I recently had hip surgery at Duchy Hospital as a private patient under the care of Mr Mark Norton, and I cannot speak highly enough of the whole experience. From the very beginning, dealing with Mr Norton and his secretary was easy, friendly and efficient. In the lead-up to the operation there was, inevitably, some waiting around, but I was kept informed throughout. Everyone I came into contact with seemed to make it their job to keep me relaxed and reassured. Thankfully, I don't remember much about the operation itself! The care I received afterwards was exceptional. The recovery room was very good, and the gentleman looking after me spent time chatting with me, keeping me relaxed and explaining what was happening before I went up to the ward. Once on the ward, the care really was second to none. Every member of the nursing team was kind, attentive and genuinely caring, both during the day and overnight. Nothing seemed too much trouble. I also have to mention the kitchen and pantry staff. I was following a low-carb vegan diet, which I'm sure isn't the easiest or most standard request in a hospital. It wasn't a problem at all. Rather than simply giving me a menu, they asked me what I would like and somehow managed to provide exactly what I wanted, the photo doesn't do it justice and makes it look dry - it wasn't. I honestly became convinced that someone had gone shopping especially for me! Breakfast was just as good. My discharge was delayed because I developed urinary retention. By this point my wife was with me, and the staff were incredibly kind to both of us. They even offered to make her a meal and made sure she had drinks and anything else she needed. One particular nurse deserves special mention. When I developed the retention, Nicola was incredibly calm, kind and reassuring. I'm very much a "whatever happens, it will be fine" sort of person, whereas my wife is rather more of a worrier! The nurse picked up on that immediately and gave my wife just as much care, reassurance and attention as she gave me. That meant a great deal to both of us. Mr Norton also came back to check that everything was okay and asked to be kept informed about the retention. The on-call doctor, who is available on site 24/7, visited me several times to make sure I was okay. Eventually the problem resolved itself and I was able to go home. From the surgeon and his secretary, to the nurses, doctors, recovery staff and the people behind the scenes keeping us fed and comfortable, everyone played their part. I've had an excellent experience at Duchy Hospital. The standard of care, but particularly the kindness and personal attention from the staff, made what could have been a very stressful experience feel remarkably reassuring. A genuine and heartfelt thank you to everyone who looked after me. You really did go above and beyond.

Attended Duchy Hospital for an angiogram, funded by the NHS. All staff made me feel very welcome and put me at ease throughout the day. The consultant (Dr Baricevic) explained everything in detail and made sure I understood all aspects, the theatre staff were efficient and extremely professional, and the 2 nurses who looked after me were so very caring and concerned about my welfare. I recently underwent a surgical procedure carried out by Mr Anmar Al-Shawi. Every care was taken by him during my surgery along every step of the way and he explained to me what he was doing and why. I would like to thank him for this, it was most appreciated. I would also like to thank Dr Roger Langford (Anaesthetist) and Sharon Harvey (Anaesthetic Practitioner) for looking after me so well before and during my surgery and Nurse Sophie Colton for her amazing care and compassion before, during and after my surgery. It made a real difference to me, thank you.
