Edward Fry Achieves Distinction in Business Administration NVQ

After joining Fitzwilliam Hospital in March 2022 as an Administration Assistant, Edward Fry was keen to learn and develop his skills. He has now achieved a distinction in his NVQ level 3 diploma in Business Administration.

Within the pivotal, busy, and fast-paced role of Admin Assistant, Edward ensures the accurate and timely management of patient pathways for Fitzwilliam Hospital. He liaises effectively with patients both face to face in Reception and remotely, answering queries, providing cost quotes, updating patient details, registering patients, and booking appointments. Edward also manages GP referrals and doctors’ clinics.

Administration Manager, Rachel Jackson says:

“Edward is a conscientious team player and a quick learner. When he showed interest in the Business Administration NVQ, I was extremely pleased to support and mentor him. Apprenticeships offer a great opportunity to learn while you earn. I am delighted that Edward has passed his NVQ with flying colours.”

Edward commenced a Business Administration Level 3 NVQ with Hart Learning and Development in October 2022. Fitzwilliam Hospital and other Ramsay hospitals partner with Hart Learning and Development to improve and maximise their staff capability. Just 15 months later, Edward swiftly and efficiently completed the NVQ in January this year. This valuable qualification has developed Edward’s knowledge, skills, and behaviours required for Business Administration. Working whilst completing this NVQ has also enabled Edward to put his learning into practise in the workplace.

The course comprised of webinars, self-learning, and lots of coursework. Edward particularly enjoyed relating the coursework to his Administration role at Fitzwilliam Hospital and understanding the important part his role plays within the global organisation of Ramsay Health Care. As part of his diploma, Edward implemented a change in process within his department. This amendment ensures that full details are captured and entered onto the hospital system to support the smooth progression of referrals. Edward presented this process change at a team meeting to his team who were very supportive of the change.

 Edward says:

“I am so pleased to have passed my Level 3 Business Administration NVQ with a distinction. It was hard work but I really enjoyed it. I am very appreciative to Fitzwilliam Hospital for funding the course and allocating dedicated paid study days. I would like to thank my line manager, Rachel Jackson, for her ongoing support and mentorship. I am also very grateful to my course tutor and my Admin team colleagues.”
