We speak to David who recently underwent Hip Replacement Surgery at Clifton Park Hospital

At Clifton Park Hospital, we pride ourselves on delivering quality care and outstanding customer service to our patients throughout their journey. The feedback we receive from our patients is a really important way of helping us to achieve this.

We are delighted to share a recent review we received from a valued patient, David Hoggard - who underwent hip surgery with Mr Nick Carrington in January.

Q) Can you tell us about your life before your surgery, and what made you proceed with the surgery?

A. I was reasonably active, if not very sporty. I walked everywhere locally and watched rugby and cricket. I travelled by train to London frequently and drove around 10,000 miles a year. Eventually, walking became too painful, and I stopped walking very far. I drove or took taxis more frequently. I started to use a stick to walk and soon couldn't do without it, especially in cold and damp weather.

Q) How was your experience at Clifton Park Hospital?

A. Exemplary. From my first contact to discharge, as outpatient and inpatient, everyone I met was helpful, friendly, efficient and confident. It was that confidence that had the biggest impact on me. I absorbed that confidence and it's now helping me enormously as I recover from surgery. I know that it will be OK.

Q) How was your experience with Mr Carrington?

A. Calm, confident and patient. I wanted to know exactly what would be done and why, and he took time to explain. I had no qualms at all about trusting him and by inference, his team.

Q) What difference has the treatment made to your life?

A. So far after one week, it's clear that the operation has worked as expected. Each day is better than the day before, and my movement is easier. I know that there's a way to go, but I also know that it will be a great result.

Q) What advice do you have for people thinking about having similar surgery?

A. Don't hesitate - but go to Clifton Park. Be prepared for a couple of rough days, but you really won't regret it after that.
