Pinehill Hospital are pleased to introduce a new general practitioner (GP) delivered service for adults living with chronic migraine. This treatment pathway is designed to offer timely access, personalised care, and a comfortable experience for patients who may otherwise face long waits before receiving preventive therapy.
Dr Nitil Kedia brings extensive experience in chronic migraines, having delivered treatment safely and effectively for many patients over several years. His background as a GP with dedicated training in headache care and specific techniques ensures a high standard of practice, with a strong focus on patient comfort, clear communication, and personalised treatment planning.
Understanding chronic migraine
Chronic migraine is a disabling neurological condition defined as 15 or more headache days per month, with at least 8 days showing migraine features. Although less common than episodic migraine, it significantly impacts quality of life, work, and daily functioning.
Why get treatment at a private hospital?
- Faster access & shorter wait times than many routine NHS pathways - important for people whose lives are disrupted by frequent attacks.
- Specialist-led assessment and personalised care: consultant neurologists experienced in headache medicine perform the assessment, treatment and follow-up (including optimisation of dosing and “follow-the-pain” adjustments where appropriate).
- Comprehensive pathway: we combine treatment with a medication review (to address medication overuse), lifestyle advice, and rapid onward triage to other preventive options (CGRP-targeted therapies, oral preventives) where indicated.
- Convenience & continuity: dedicated clinic slots every 12 weeks and streamlined administration (pre-filled consent, treatment room, written aftercare instructions).
- Private-room comfort and privacy - helpful for patients with anxiety about procedures. These service features can improve the overall patient experience and, in some cases, the speed at which benefits are obtained.
Who may benefit from migraine treatment?
This service is ideal for adults who:
- meet criteria for chronic migraine,
- have found standard preventive medications ineffective or intolerable,
- prefer rapid access to a trained GP for ongoing management,
- value continuity and a personalised care approach
