Under the terms of the CMA’s Order, private hospital operators such as Ramsay Health Care UK (‘Ramsay’) must follow certain processes and publish certain information in relation to the clinicians who work at our hospitals. This relates to arrangements with referring clinicians for private patient care only, and do not affect the services we supply to NHS patients. The Order requires private hospital operators to publish details of specific corporate hospitality events offered to clinicians.
Medical Advisory Committee (MAC) Chairs Conference
Ramsay Health Care UK MAC Chair conference is held annually. The conference addresses a number of topics including a global and UK business updates and a clinical governance overview. All MAC Chairs from all Ramsay hospitals and their partners are invited to attend.
2018, the National MAC Conference was held in Hertfordshire and the total cost of the event was approximately £18,500.
2019, the National MAC Conference was held in Manchester and the total cost of the event was approximately £17,000.
2020, there were no corporate hospitality events held due to Ramsay supporting the NHS in its response to Covid-19.
2021, the National MAC Conference was held virtually due to Covid-19 prevalence and lockdown measures. A small food and drink hamper was supplied to all MAC Chairs at a cost of £50 per person.
2022, the National MAC Conference was held in Windsor, 20 Consultants and the total cost of the event was approximately £10,000 for 20 MAC Chairs along with partners who joined for dinner and overnight.
Corporate Hospitality Events
Ramsay holds a lease on a box at Twickenham Rugby Ground for an annual rent. Ramsay provides hospitality from the box to consultants, suppliers as well as other individuals and organisations on match days. The catering costs on such days are usually around £4,500. The box is also used for training events for hospital staff and corporate staff.
National MAC Meetings and Events
In 2022, Ramsay hosted a face to face Christmas National MAC Meeting in Richmond. The total cost of the event, including dinner and accommodation, was approximately £15,000. The next day 11 MAC Chairs joined us at a match at Twickenham.
On an annual basis, Ramsay centrally hosts a small dinner in each geographical cluster with the MAC Chairs and Hospital Directors of that cluster hosted by the CEO and other Executive Members. The cost of these events for around 15 people is a total of £2,500.
Ramsay Health Care UK may provide gifts to Consultants and MAC members at Christmas time to show appreciation for their contributions over the year.
