  • I had ACL/MCL surgery yesterday at Oaklands. The staff made what was a stressful experience as stress-free as possible. From the nurses (shout out Lily) and appointment team (shout out Sam) to surgeon Jill, everyone was excellent and I felt very well looked after from start to finish. I would appreciate it if this message could be passed on to the ward team as I can’t remember all names - everyone I spoke to was attentive, kind and a calming influence. Thank you for all your help!

  • The staff at Oaklands are lovely, I cannot fault them in any way. They took care of me very well aside from one nurse who took my blood - late on the day of surgery then the following morning, same person, I told him he wouldn’t get blood from my left arm. He tried anyway - the only time I have ever felt pain when having blood taken & had to redo using the right arm. The same nurse who advised I would only need a 4 week sick note which then was over ruled & a 6 week sick note provided. I can only assume he took some dislike to me for some reason as all the others were lovely. The 3 stars are mainly for the medication side. All pain relief was oral, even when vomiting, I had to take an anti sickness to try & stop that before taking any pain relief. This must be a cost saving exercise/policy set by the hospital which, in my opinion isn’t good. I also had to take omeprazole which I had no idea why but turns out because of the effects the pain killers have on the tummy. Seems crazy when I had a cannula in each hand - one with a saline drip & one not being used. I had a hysterectomy so internal pressure was to be avoided but all the medication caused horrific constipation, already suffering trapped gas & was given lactulose (which causes gas) then Prescribed senna (which causes cramps) to take home which made the whole complaint even worse & almost frightening for me. Movicol or laxido should have been prescribed. I had no post surgery worries aside from this. I took no pain relief other than paracetamol & ibuprofen from day 3 post op. There were also a couple of instances of me needing to provide info several times due to systems not being updated & also arriving for surgery at 7am for bloods which weren’t taken until 9am & so delayed my surgery to later in the day but nobody advised me until I asked what the delay was. Overall it was a positive experience. The hospital was clean & the staff aside from the one mentioned above were fantastic.

  • My experience of the Oakland hospital was first class.I cannot fault any department from my consultant Mr.Gill to cleaning staff when I had my knee replacement last May.The aftercare was excellent and follow up appointments always ran smoothly.I was also offered a rehab class as extra physio which I took advantage of.Would highly recommend.

  • I had a fantastic experience. The staff team were welcoming from start to finish and nothing was too much trouble. The surgical team really put me at ease and I felt very safe. I had visits from the anaesthetist and surgeon upon arrival and again before I left which I haven’t experienced in other private hospitals. I would happily use Oaklands again and would recommend it to everybody.

  • I had an excellent experience at Oaklands Hospital From start to finish, the level of care and professionalism was outstanding. A mention has to go to Cameron in Pre-Op, who is an absolute delight. He has such a calm and reassuring manner that immediately puts you at ease, which makes all the difference. He’s a real credit to the hospital, especially as such a young gentleman. His professionalism and kindness stands out. Ludsy in Pre-Op was also fantastic. She was, attentive, and incredibly supportive throughout. You can tell she genuinely cares about patients and takes pride in her work. All of the ward staff deserve recognition as well. Every interaction I had was positive. The team is efficient, friendly, and provides the best care. Thanks to everyone at Oaklands Hospital for making the experience so smooth and reassuring.

  • I had a knee replacement at Oaklands on Tuesday the 21st of April. The best hospital experience possible. The operation went really well. The staff were great. The room and food were fantastic. They couldn’t do enough for me. Something that I usually have a problem with is foreign staff’s accent due to having hearing aids. It wasn’t a problem as I could understand all that was said. Thanks to all

  • From reception to the wards, all staff were helpful and polite. Everyone identified themselves initially, which was very helpful. The room was comfortable and I had everything I needed. It was helpful to attend the pre op session and have the opportunity to ask practical questions. Since the surgery my regular physio sessions have been really helpful, and it is great to have updates on my progress
