The Decision
Ever since I was a teenager I had always wanted bigger boobs. Having small boobs knocked my confidence and I had never been happy with my body.

A year ago, I married my dream man, but looking back over the photos was much less of a dream and more like a nightmare. I hated each flat chested wedding picture and from that moment, I knew that I had to do something. I couldn’t let this affect me for the rest of my life.

Luckily at around the same time, I came into some money and after discussing it with my husband, I decided now was the right time to look at a breast augmentation procedure. However, due to a pre-existing health condition, I wasn’t sure if I would be a suitable candidate.

Fortunately, after a quick search on the internet, I found The Westbourne Centre. All the reviews were amazing which helped to put me at ease but it was the offering of procedures using local anaesthetic and sedation sealed the deal, especially with my medical history. It also happened to be just a short car journey from where I lived in Leicester.

The Consultation
Immediately upon walking into The Westbourne Centre, I was greeted by the friendly reception staff and noticed how clean the place was. Based on my research, Mr Hiroshi Nishikawa was my surgeon of choice. My husband, who was very supportive throughout, accompanied me to my consultation.

During the consultation, Mr Nishikawa made me feel totally at ease and was very understanding of my medical condition. Not once did he push me into making a decision, instead he told me to go away and think about it. This along with his warmth and professionalism made me feel totally comfortable.

As I have a pre-existing medical condition which affects my lungs, this is something which Mr Nishikawa and I discussed at length during the consultation. He informed me that he had performed this surgery on women with the same condition as me previously and advised that due to the condition, my implants should be placed on top the muscle so that I would not feel any pain from coughing. Something that stood out to me was that Mr Nishikawa said that he would always put my condition and my health before the cosmetic surgery. This was something I really appreciated.

As you can imagine taking your clothes off in front of a stranger, albeit a medical professional, is nerve-wracking at the best of times, but with Mr Nishikawa, there was never any judgement. He assured me that he had seen hundreds of breasts before and encouraged me to relax. He then took some before photos so that we could compare post-surgery.

Walking out of the consultation, I felt comfortable and confident and as soon as the two-week cooling-off period had ended, I called up to book my breast augmentation.

The Surgery
A mere six weeks after my initial consultation I had my breast augmentation. On the day of my surgery, I was very nervous but I was also relieved that it was finally happening after years of dreaming of bigger boobs! Had I not spent my money on this I would have wasted it on something else.

The minute I walked into The Centre I was again greeted by the friendly staff which helped to put me at ease and dispel some of my nerves. One of the nurses walked me down to the recovery room and talked me through the surgery. Mr Nishikawa then visited me to do the same. He also promised me that should any issues arise during the surgery relating to my condition or otherwise, he would stop right away and advised me to trust him on what would look best – which I did.

Following this, I then walked down to surgery which was a very odd thing to do and I wished I had brought some slippers! Once in the operating theatre, I sat down on the bed where the surgical team introduced themselves to me. Due to my condition, I’m very used to needles, so had no issues with the anaesthetic and was laughing away with the anaesthetist before everything went fuzzy.

The Recovery
Before I knew it, I was back in the recovery room being gently tapped on the shoulder to be told everything was done. I had an easy recovery and didn’t wake feeling groggy or with any side-effects. Within an hour, I had eaten and was dressed, although in no way was I made to feel rushed by the staff – they all put me first. Once I was ready to leave they took me through the pain relief management.

Before leaving the recovery room, I took a deep breath, looked down and smiled. I think I had almost forgotten that I now had new boobs! Even now it is crazy to think that in just three hours I had had something which had changed my life. After going through everything with the nurses, I then headed to meet my husband in the waiting area and couldn’t wait to go home.

My recovery went much better than I thought it would have. My breasts were a little sore and tender as you’d expect but I had the weekend to rest and recuperate. The codeine helped too although I admit that I didn’t rely on it too heavily. One week later I had my follow-up appointment with the nurse, who told me that my scars were healing well which I was really pleased to hear.

The Results
Once the swelling had gone down my breasts dropped to a lovely shape and I am so pleased with how natural they look. The advice Mr Nishikawa gave me was spot on and, contrary to popular belief, round implants do not always look like stuck on footballs!

My breast augmentation has changed my life in so many ways. I cannot put into words how happy it has made me and how much confidence I now have as a result. Buying bikinis for my upcoming holiday was a pleasure, I even tried to buy them before my surgery but I wasn’t sure what cup size I would be!

Before I was an A/B cup and would wear bras two sizes too big and always cover up with high necked tops but now that’s a thing of the past. Now I wear C/D cup bra and I can wear low cut tops without a care in the world – sometimes I don’t bother wearing a bra at all!

Before my cosmetic surgery, I didn’t have anything to flaunt, so when my husband first brought me a low cut top, I wasn’t quite sure what to make of it. But, after trying it on, I couldn’t believe how good I looked. I realised that I now had something to flaunt where I didn’t before.

Originally, I only planned to tell a few close family and friends about my procedure but I was so happy and excited, I couldn’t keep it in - now I’m quite open about it! My sister had a breast augmentation procedure years ago and now, after seeing the results of mine, my other sister is considering one too.

My new boobs have given me a boost of energy as well as confidence. It has changed my life and I have no regrets. I would go back again and do it all over again in a heartbeat.
