New Knee replacement technology comes to Springfield private hospital. Springfield hospital is now using the latest technology and can offer to all insured or self pay patients the new: Visionaire - Patient Matched instrumentation for use in total knee replacement surgery. The Visionaire is technology that uses a patient's MRI and x-rays to build custom made surgical instrumentation for use with high performance knee implants, giving a bespoke service for the patient.
By using instruments designed from each patient's unique anatomical data, surgeons can match the unique shapes and angles of the joint while precisely aligning the implant. The disposable, patient-specific instruments help surgeons eliminate multiple steps and saves valuable time during knee replacement surgery, thus helping to decrease the risk of infection as well as the amount of time a patient is under anesthesia.
This powerful new technology can be used for patients suffering from advanced osteoarthritis of the knee.
Consultant surgeon Mr. Stephen Palmer is using this innovative technology and recently operated on two patients who agreed to share with us their stories.
Mr Edmund Hymas of Hatfield Peverel in Chelmsford aged 82 years said:
