On July 1st 2024 I was booked in to Winfield hospital for a complete left knee replacement. I had suffered osteoarthritis for a few years and the pain had become unbearable. My operation was through an NHS portal, having been referred by my GP. My personal experience at this hospital was really good. I was scared before I arrived, but I was looking forward to freeing the awful pain. I met and had dealings with about 30 members of staff from cleaners all the way to my surgeon. Every single one treated me with kindness, integrity and compassion showing complete professionalism. I had my own room which was scrupulously clean and spacious, en-suite bathroom, food was carefully thought out, wholesome, plentiful and delicious. The operation went totally to plan, any worries I had soon evaporated. I’m not a lover of hospitals but this felt like a family hotel. The lovely staff helped me get post operation pain levels under control and the dark times I felt were put right by the nurse in charge of infection, who proclaimed herself my personal cheerleader 😁 I was soon well enough to be discharged ( after some rigorous training with the physiotherapy team ). I’ll be honest, my time at Winfield was fairly short but sweet and my most sincere thanks to every single member of the team that treated me. I stayed in for 2 days
