Carole Burman Celebrates 36 Years at New Hall Hospital

This year Ramsay Health Care celebrates 60 years of global expertise in healthcare. We have interviewed some of our people who form a key part of our success, providing outstanding patient care across our network of Hospitals.

We speak to Carole Burman, Administration Assistant as she celebrates 36 years at New Hall Hospital, part of Ramsay Health Care UK.

How long have you worked at Ramsay and what is your current role, what role did you start with and what role(s) have progressed through?

I joined New Hall in 1987 as the accountant, when it was an independent hospital, so I have been at New Hall 36 years. We had a number of changes of ownership including Capio Healthcare from Sweden and then Ramsay Healthcare from Australia who is our current owner. I moved from accountant to Finance Manager covering New Hall and Mount Stuart in Torquay. I was also Business office Manager and did some coding for private patients, until now I am an administrator.

What is something that makes you smile during your workday?

We hear a lot of amusing stories from patients and staff which make me smile and recently some of the interpretations that come out of Tpro!!

What is your most memorable experience you've had during your time with Ramsay?

Memorable moment of which there are many, including on fete day herding a bunch of cows in the car park back into their field  with Kim Truckle.  Being "Florence Nightingale" when we patrolled the wards in the middle of the night when the electric was cut off to connect the power to the new ward.

What do you love most about working for Ramsay?

What I love most about working at New Hall is all the wonderful colleagues, it really is one big family.
