Hertfordshire MP Julie Marson visits Rivers Hospital

Julie Marson MP, Member of Parliament for Hertford and Stortford and the former Employment Minister, recently visited Rivers Hospital in Hertfordshire to meet local doctors, nurses and staff to see how the hospital is providing high quality healthcare for local people.

Julie toured the hospital with Hospital Director, Chloe Senneck, to see the services offered at the hospital, which include Orthopedics, Oncology and Ophthalmology. During the visit, the local MP also met with Consultants and nurses working at the hospital to deliver care for patients.

Rivers Hospital is part of Ramsay Health Care UK, which owns and operates 34 hospitals across the UK, caring for NHS patients, as well as those using private healthcare insurance or those who choose to self-fund their care.

The hospital works in close partnership with local NHS Trusts, with the aim of reducing NHS waiting times in the locality delivering for patients as part of the wider health community, ensuring patients can get the care they need, when they need it.

Julie also visited Gardens and Jacobs Centre, which is a Specialist Complex Care Neurological Rehabilitation Service for adults living with a range of different, complex neurological conditions such as acquired brain injury, spinal injury, progressive and other neurological conditions.

The highly experienced teams include Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, GP’s, Speech and Language Therapists and Nurses. Neuro-rehabilitation Consultants and neuropsychology provide expert input to our services.

A wide variety of specialised services are offered in recognition that every person referred to the service is unique. The service’s response is tailored to the specific needs of each person, their family, and their individual circumstances.

The service works hard to make the environment a welcoming and friendly place to be, with lots of therapeutic activities for individuals and groups of people to keep active and engaged.

“It was fantastic to have a tour and see the facilities at Rivers as well as at Gardens and Jacobs Neuro Centres. Over half of patients treated at Rivers are through NHS referrals and the staff are doing great work to ease waiting lists and get people seen quicker. Alongside seeing the fantastic care provided by the team at Jacobs and Gardens, in a highly specialised area. Thank you to both teams for showing me around last week and I look forward to continuing to see the amazing work they do in our community.”

Gardens & Jacobs Operations Manager, Sam Hill said:

“We enjoyed giving Julie a tour of Gardens and Jacobs, showing her the amazing services delivered here daily by our fantastic staff team and showing her what it means to us to be able to deliver that care to our service users and their families. We are looking forward to seeing Julie again over the summer when she is hopefully able to join us at our summer event and we all look forward to continuing to build on our new relationship with our local MP.”
