Clifton Park Hospital, part of Ramsay Health Care UK (Ramsay UK) was pleased to welcome Luke Charters, MP for York Outer, for an official visit.

Hospital Director, Lesley Lock, and Debbie Craven, Operations Director for North & Midlands, alongside the wider hospital team hosted Mr Charters on a tour of the hospital’s key departments. Mr Charters last visited the hospital during the 2024 General Election campaign, prior to being officially elected as the MP for York Outer. The visit provided the opportunity to update Mr Charters on Clifton Park’s continued commitment to supporting the community at a time of sustained pressure on local healthcare services.
The team highlighted Clifton Park Hospital’s role as a major provider of elective orthopaedic care for North Yorkshire and Humber, delivering reliable, high-quality planned treatments that ease pressure on neighbouring NHS services. Leaders noted the hospital’s strategic alignment with Humber & North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board priorities, supporting improved patient access, shorter waiting times, and resilient care pathways.
The hospital also outlined its adoption of the national Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) programme, including the implementation of best practice standards for joint replacement surgery, enhanced recovery pathways, and a multidisciplinary approach to patient care. These measures are contributing to improved outcomes and further strengthening the hospital’s support for both immediate system needs and longer‑term healthcare priorities.
In addition to showcasing its focus on clinical excellence, the visit offered an opportunity for the local team to share how they are helping to make a positive impact through its wider commitment to the local community. This includes sponsorship of grassroots sports teams, delivery of accredited training for local healthcare professionals, and educational sessions for community sports coaches focused on early intervention and injury prevention. These initiatives support young athletes to stay active, informed, and injury‑aware, reflecting Ramsay UK’s broader dedication to community wellbeing.
Following the visit, Luke Charters, MP for York Outer said:
“It was great to visit Clifton Park Hospital and meet the team providing such high-quality care for patients across York Outer and the wider area.
I’m always proud to see the dedication and compassion of healthcare staff who work day in, day out to look after people in our community.
I also had the opportunity to speak with patients who are my constituents, and it was reassuring to hear how well they’ve been cared for by the team. It was encouraging to learn more about how the hospital is working alongside the NHS to help people access the treatment they need.”
Lesley Lock, Hospital Director at Clifton Park Hospital said:
"We were pleased to welcome Mr Charters back to Clifton Park Hospital and share the significant work our teams are delivering for patients across York and North Yorkshire.
Clifton Park has become the orthopaedic engine room for the region, providing high quality, reliable elective care that helps reduce waiting times and ease pressures on the wider NHS. Our continued focus on best practice pathways, clinical excellence, and partnership working ensures we can support the health system not only in meeting current demand, but in building long term resilience for the communities we serve.”
