Leading independent healthcare provider, Ramsay Health Care UK (Ramsay UK), recently hosted a Westminster roundtable, exploring the future of healthcare in Britain.
The event, chaired by former Health Minister and Purpose Coalition Engagement Director, Rt Hon Anne Milton, brought together health and social care stakeholders from across the sector, including Ramsay UK Chief Executive Nick Costa, local Ramsay Hospital Directors, IHPN Chief Executive David Hare MBE, alongside partners from the NHS and training providers. The roundtable was also attended by Health Select Committee Member James Morris MP, former Minister for Primary Care and Patient Safety.
The discussion focused on breaking down barriers to healthcare across the UK in three key areas:
- the role of healthcare organisations in supporting the training and development of the clinical and medical workforce;
- how healthcare organisations working in partnership as part of the health community can deliver positive outcomes for patients;
- the role of healthcare organisations as a force for good in our local communities.
Ramsay Health Care UK works in partnership with the NHS across the UK as part of the wider health community. As part of its commitment to social impact, the organisation has worked with the Purpose Coalition to develop and produce a Social Impact Report, published last year. The report sets out how Ramsay is already breaking down barriers as a responsible employer and included recommendations on prioritising partnerships with other healthcare partners, developing a talent pipeline to provide the right skills and experience and tracking socio-economic background.

As part of Ramsay’s ongoing engagement with policymakers in this important General Election year, MPs and candidates are being invited to visit their local Ramsay Hospitals to meet doctors, nurses, wider staff and patients to see the impact their local hospital has in the community. Recent visits have included Shadow Cabinet Minister Rt Hon Sir Alan Campbell MP (Cobalt Hospital), Economic Secretary to the Treasury Bim Afolami MP (Pinehill Hospital), and Cabinet Office Minister Rt Hon John Glen MP (New Hall Hospital).
