Springfield Hospital, part of Ramsay Health Care UK, has celebrated the installation of its second static MRI scanner during an official ceremony attended by Mayor Jannetta Sosin. The new scanner marks a significant expansion of the hospital’s diagnostic services, enhancing capacity and improving access to high quality imaging for patients in Chelmsford and across Essex.

The investment also includes the addition of a second X-ray room and a new ultrasound suite, both scheduled for completion in the coming weeks. These improvements form part of Springfield Hospital’s ongoing commitment to providing state-of-the-art facilities and an exceptional patient experience.
Designed to enhance both patient comfort and operational efficiency, the new MRI scanner enables the hospital to deliver faster, high‑quality imaging and reduce waiting times for those requiring advanced diagnostics.

Mayor Jannetta Sosin commented:“The Mayoress and I were delighted to be at the grand opening of the new, state of the art MRI scanner at Springfield hospital. It was a pleasure to be invited to cut the ribbon. “We were delighted to meet the dedicated staff and to understand more about the machine itself. It will benefit mid Essex patients both private and NHS. This is the second MRI scanner at the hospital so required an extension onto a very compact site. Our thanks go out to the whole team who made this possible.”

Nick Jackson, Hospital Director at Springfield Hospital, said:“We’re delighted to be adding another MRI machine to our hospital; with this latest addition, we continue to invest in our diagnostic services to support our community with faster, high-quality imaging.”
