Winfield Hospital, part of Ramsay Health Care UK, was pleased to host Alex McIntyre, Labour MP for Gloucester for a visit of the hospital that included a guided tour and the chance to engage with staff from a range of departments.
Mr McIntyre’s visit provided valuable insight into the vital role independent sector hospitals play in supporting both NHS and privately funded patients, particularly in light of ongoing pressures across the healthcare system. The visit also served as a welcome opportunity to share first-hand the contribution of Winfield Hospital in improving patient outcomes and reducing waiting times.
During his visit, Mr McIntyre toured the hospital departments including outpatients, surgical theatres, and the recently refurbished ward bedrooms and ensuite shower rooms. He spoke with clinical and support staff about the high-quality, patient-focused care delivered at Winfield Hospital, and heard how collaboration between Winfield and Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board is helping to ease pressures in the local community, enabling patients to gain access to the care they need. The visit highlighted how patient choice can help alleviate pressure on the system.
Serving the local community since 1992, Winfield Hospital has earned a strong reputation for clinical excellence. As part of Ramsay Health Care UK—one of the country’s leading independent healthcare providers—it offers a broad range of specialties including orthopaedics, general surgery, women’s and means health, ENT, diagnostics, and cosmetic surgery. The hospital treats private, insured, and NHS patients.
Alex McIntyre, MP for Gloucester said:
“It was good to visit the Winfield Hospital today to see their refurbished wards and hear in particular about the NHS patients from Gloucester that are benefitting from treatment at the facility. This Labour government is committed to bringing down waiting lists and I would like to thank all the frontline staff at the Winfield Hospital and at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital for their hard work and dedication to making sure Gloucester residents get the treatment they need.”
Michelle Stone, Hospital Director at Winfield Hospital, added:
“It was a pleasure to welcome Alex McIntyre MP and offer him an insight into the exceptional work being carried out by our teams. His visit was a valuable opportunity to highlight how we are helping to reduce waiting times and improve access to care for patients across Gloucester and beyond. We appreciated his thoughtful approach and recognition of the importance of partnership between the NHS and independent healthcare providers.”
