Mr James Ramus is a Consultant General Surgeon at Berkshire Independent Hospital in Reading who specialises in weight loss surgery.
His clinical specialities include general abdominal surgery, laparoscopic hernia surgery, laparoscopic cholecystectomy and bile duct exploration, laparoscopic anti-reflux surgery, Bariatric surgery – gastric bands, gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy and gastric balloons, Upper GI endoscopy.
James Ramus qualified from St Mary’s Hospital, London 1997 and underwent basic surgical training in London, followed by higher surgical training in the Oxford region. He became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, 2001 and Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, 2009. James was awarded an MD in Clinical Research 2008, University College, London for work on Barrett’s oesophagus and progression to oesophageal adenocarcinoma. He underwent a post CCT fellowship in Bariatric and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery in Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton (Level 1 Unit and Centre of Clinical Excellence for Bariatric surgery) 2010-11.
