Mr Ugochukwu Ihedioha studied medicine at the University of Calabar,Nigeria (1993-1999). His basic surgical training was undertaken in Glasgow(2002-2004).
He carried out research in Glasgow and Leicester on the factors influencing the implementation of an enhanced recovery programme in colorectal surgery for which he was awarded a doctorate in medicine.
His higher specialist training was undertaken in the East Midlands in 2009 and was completed in August 2014. He carried out his specialist training in laparoscopic surgery for colorectal cancer and benign disease in Leicester and Northampton during that period.
Mr Ihedioha had specialist training in pelvic floor surgery during his fellowship at Guys’ and St Thomas hospital in London between October 2014 and March 2015.
Mr Ihedioha has an interest in research and has over 20 publications on topics ranging from laparoscopic colorectal surgery, enhanced recovery programme, surgery in the elderly and hernia repair. He has presented at several local, national and international congresses.
He was appointed Consultant Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgeon at Northampton General Hospital and has a role in supporting the laparoscopic colorectal cancer service and enhanced recovery after surgery for patients in Northamptonshire.
