Dr Beth Fitzmaurice is an experienced Consultant in Pain Medicine and Anaesthesia. Her clinical expertise is wide-ranging, equipping her to manage a multitude of pain conditions - such as chronic spinal and neck pain, chronic joint pain, nerve pain, chronic pain following trauma and surgery, chronic abdominal and pelvic pain, and complex regional pain syndrome. Dr Beth Fitzmaurice has a specialist interest in chronic widespread pain and fibromyalgia, and holds a PhD in this area. She takes a thorough history and examination and can arrange and interpret scans to help establish a diagnosis, and tailors medications to aid rehabilitation.
Dr Fitzmaurice offers a wide variety of both X-ray- and ultrasound-guided injections to help alleviate chronic pain and aid functional recovery – including spinal injections for back pain, neck pain and sciatica pains, nerve injections, joint and bursa injections, and radiofrequency ablation to name a few. She adopts a holistic approach to ensure longevity of management strategies.

Dr Fitzmaurice holds a PhD in Sports, Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences – she conducted a landmark trial in the use of red light therapy in chronic pain, the first of its kind in the UK. Her future research aims are to work with governing bodies to advance patient-centred care and widen access to innovative therapies across the UK.
Graduating from the University of Birmingham in 2011, Dr Fitzmaurice completed her anaesthesia training across the West Midlands, gaining experience at many leading institutions including Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, and Birmingham Women’s Hospital. Her pain training was undertaken at a busy pain referral centre, Birmingham City Hospital – where she spent over 5 years leading multi-disciplinary clinics and pain injection lists. Dr Fitzmaurice’s advanced regional/nerve injection skills were further honed at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital.
Dr Fitzmaurice has authored numerous peer-reviewed research publications and contributed to pain textbooks. Her work with red light therapy earned her Star Award nominations for Research and Transformation, and she secured competitive funding for Innovative Research. Dr Fitzmaurice enjoys teaching and mentoring and served as an Academic Tutor and OSCE examiner for a number of years.
