Dr Mendall is an experienced Gastroenterologist and is freqently sought for second opions on difficult cases.
His specialist areas include endoscopies, colonoscopies, inflammatory bowel disease. He is an expert interventional endoscopist having performed more than 7000 colonoscopies, 10000 upper GI endoscopies and 3000 ERCP's as well as a large number of other endoscopic procedures, including emergency endoscopy for unconrolled gastrointestinal bleeding, stenting to relieve obstructions of the oesophagus and gut, videocapsule endoscopy, double ballon enteroscopy and oesophageal physiology studies.
Initial consultation fee will not exceed £250 and follow-up consultation fee will not exceed £175.

Academic Background

Dr Mike Mendall qualified from Cambridge University and the Middlesex Hospital Medical School with distinction in 1985. He was one of Tatler's top gastroenterologists in 2013. He undertook specialist training in gastroenterology at St George's in South West London.

Dr Mendall has more than 70 original publications and has written and contributed to a number of books. His main areas of research have been into dyspepsia, irritable bowel, inflammatory bowel disease (including the effect of diet on Crohn's disease) and the body's response to inflammation. More recently his research interests have been into the effects of obesity on a range of gut disorders and into the pathogenesis of inflammatory bowel disease. His research is both clinical and laboratory based,hisy laboratory being at St George's Medical School.
He is the Lead Clinician for Gastroenterology at Croydon University Hospital.
He has served on the British Society of Gastroenterology Clinical Services committee, the Upper GI Cancer London Cancer Alliance board, the National Cancer Intelligence Network, Upper GI Cancer committee, and the South West London Gastroenterology Training Committee. He has also served on a variety of hospital committees.

Dr Mendall has always had a strong research focus an remains actively involved , presenting at and attending many international meetings. He has made and continues to make inportant and original conributions in a number of differnt areas of gastroenterology including dyspepsia, inflammatory bowel disease and irritable bowel. He has more than 100 publications, many in prestigious journals including the Lancet, British Medical Journal, Gastroenterology, Gut and the American Journal of Gastroenterology.
