Dr Tony Downs trained at Guys Hospital, London and qualified as a doctor in 1991. He holds an additional BSc in Experimental Pathology. His Dermatology training was at Bristol and Bath and Dr Downs remains an honorary research associate at Bristol University. Dr Downs is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians.
Dr Tony Downs has been a consultant Dermatologist since 2000 and held consultant posts in Musgrove Park NHS Trust Hospital and Royal Devon & Exeter NHS Trust hospital. He is now the clinical director of DMC healthcare providing the largest national community and hospital level Dermatology service across NHS England.
Dr Downs teaches and trains doctors and nurses locally and nationally on Dermatology to improve their patient care. He is integrated into the local South West medical services and will be able to involve your GP other specialist in your care as needed.
Dr Downs is member of the Royal College of Physicians (London); the British Association of Dermatologists; the American Academy of Dermatology; the European Association of Dermato-Venereology; the British Society of Dermatology Surgeons; the International Dermoscopy Society; British Medical Laser Association and the British & Irish Dermoscopy Society.
Member of the British Association of Dermatologists, the British Society of Dermatology Surgeons and the American Academy of Dermatologists.
He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians; a member of the British Association of Dermatologists and British Society of Dermatological Surgeons; a member of the European Academy of DermatoVenereology and American Academy of Dermatology; a member of the British Medical Laser Association and International Dermoscopy Society.
He continues to see NHS and private patients in Torbay and Devon for general dermatology, cosmetic and skin cancer concerns.
In 2014 he moved from the Royal Devon & Exeter and took the opportunity to use his experience to support the national development of NHS community dermatology services and was appointed the clinical director for dermatology for DMC healthcare.
