Mr Fizan Younis is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in Preston who specialises in hand and wrist surgery

Mr Fizan Younis was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the East Lancashire Hospitals Trust in February 2013. His elective practice is exclusively Hand, Wrist and Elbow Surgery. He graduated from the University of Wales College of Medicine in Cardiff in 2002.He completed his Basic and Higher surgical training in the North West of England. This included a year-long Upper Limb Fellowship at the Royal Bolton Hospital. This was followed by travelling fellowships to upper limb units in Nice and Zurich.
He was awarded an AO Travelling Trauma fellowship to McGill University Hospital in Montreal,Canada. Here he received advanced training in upper limb trauma. He was recently awarded a Training Programme Travelling Award by the Federation of European Societies for Surgery of the Hand (FESSH). He spent one month at the Institut de la Main in Paris gaining specialist training in wrist arthroscopy techniques as part of this award.
Mr Younis is an enthusiastic trainer and is heavily involved in undergraduate and postgraduate training. He is an OSCE examiner at the University of Manchester and holds the European Diploma of Hand Surgery. His current research interests include the use of Patient Rated Outcome Measures in clinical practice and Collagenase injections in Dupuytren’s contracture treatment. He has a number of presentations and publications to his name.
