Clinical interests

I have a special interest in Shoulder Surgery, particularly Arthroscopic Techniques including Sports iInjuries.  Introduced Arthroscopic Shoulder Surgery into Preston and Chorley and I am a specialist in treating Shoulder instability, Rotator Cuff Tears, Frozen Shoulder, Arthritis and Shoulder Fractures and Dislocations.

I have travelled widely in Europe and US exchanging ideas on Shoulder Surgery and I am a regular teacher on national and international Shoulder Surgery courses.


Academic background

Trained in Orthopaedics in Manchester and was a Lecturer in Orthopaedic Surgery at University Manchester from 1992-1996.  I was then a Harry Platt Research Fellow from 1994-1995 and got my Consultant appointment in 1996.

I am a member of the British Elbow and Shoulder Society and treasurer and founder member of the North West Upper Limb Group. 

I am a Regional Training Committee member and budget holder and Regional Speciality Advisor in Orthopaedic Surgery for the Royal College Of Surgeons.  I am also an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons.
