  • I can't praise Dr Jurga enough for how well she's looked after me on the run up, during, and after my surgery. I felt at ease from my very first meeting with her, she listened to me, answered all the questions I had and gave me plenty of time consider the treatment and make decisions. She's the perfect balance of professionalism and kindness - you feel looked after, know you're in good hands, and it's clear she's an expert in what she does but at no point do you feel intimidated or like "just another patient". On the morning of the surgery I felt so relaxed and calm and again just felt like I was given lots of time to prepare and ask questions and I went into the surgery feeling relaxed and happy. I'm almost 2 weeks post surgery now and the aftercare has been just as good. The communication has been amazing, I had a question after I got home and got the answer to it within about 15 minutes! Everything is looking great and healing well and I'm just so happy I had the surgery, and found the perfect surgeon!

  • I must admit I was very nervous before the surgery and worried about how I’d cope afterwards with my right hand being out of action. I was also worried it was going to be painful and uncomfortable. So honestly I can’t be more thrilled with the outcome and the whole experience. My surgeon was fantastic. I felt completely safe in her care and trusted her expertise. And was incredibly well looked after by the whole clinical team. The operation was nowhere near as bad as I’d expected, minimal discomfort and has healed very well. I’m able to put my hand down flat for the first time in years and have full range of movement.   • Consultation with the surgeon explained how the operation would be carried out, this all went to plan with a neat almost invisible scar left once it had healed. The follow up physio sessions were very helpful, and the final consultation with the surgeon wrapped the whole thing up.

  • I was very impressed with Miss Pikturnaite. She was clear about the procedure and potential risks but also the benefits and the need to follow the physio's exercises to ensure best recovery. She was reassuring and answered all our questions patiently. The surgery itself was impressive. My little finger in particular had contracted quite severely and the operation was 3 hours. The stitching was very neat and many of the other medical professionals I saw post op (nurses and physio) commented on that. My hand healed quickly and there was no need for pain medication at all. I still need to do the physio daily and massage to continue full movement in both operated on fingers and scar reduction. Most people don't even notice I've had an operation. If my other hand starts to contract I would not hesitate to ask Miss Pikturnaite to operate but I would have it done much sooner.

  • I greatly appreciated having carpal tunnel release surgery as an NHS Patient by Miss Jurga Pikturnaite. Everything was clearly explained and surgery was done efficiently and painlessly under local anaesthetic with great support from other staff during the operation. All staff were welcoming, kind and caring from the lady who took me to my room from reception, nurse Arya Remesh-Kumar who looked after me in my room, the physiotherapist who explained about post-op exercises and the gentleman who kindly brought me a pot of tea and biscuits after the operation. My thanks also to the cleaners who prepared my spacious and comfortable private room and ensuite bathroom to a wonderful standard of cleanliness. I thoroughly recommend my surgeon and the Winfield Hospital for their excellent hand surgery service.
