Mr Barrington specialises mainly in Urogynaecology including vaginal and prolapse management/surgery and urinary and faecal incontinence management/surgery. He has a particular interest in the treatment of menstrual/period disorders, hormonal disorders and management of the menopause. He also specialises in minimal access surgery and fertility problems.

Mr Barrington qualified from Cambridge University in 1986. He completed basic training in London then was appointed onto the Welsh O&G training scheme at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff. He obtained the Membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists in 1993. He also completed subspecialty training in Urogynaecology and was awarded a Doctorate of Medicine degree in 1997 on his thesis on the surgical treatment of the overactive bladder. Mr Barrington was appointed as Consultant in O&G at Torbay Hospital in 1997.
He has an active research programme and lectures and teaches extensively: to date he has published over 90 peer reviewed papers and written chapters for textbooks.
