Mr Michael Hockings qualified from St Andrews and Manchester medical schools in 1992. He went on to complete specialised training in Trauma and Orthopaedics in Manchester. He gained along the way a Masters Degree in Orthopaedic Engineering from Cardiff University. He finished his training at the Orthopaedic and Arthritic Institute, affiliated to Sunnybrook Hospital, University of Toronto, Canada from 2002 to 2003. During this 12 month fellowship he specialised in complex knee replacement and knee ligament surgery. He was appointed as a Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedics at Torbay Hospital in 2003 He has recently been appointed on the Intercollegiate Specialty Board of National examiners for Trauma and Orthopaedics in the UK. He is involved in training, audit and research. He chairs the South West Knee interest group and has published papers in the field of knee surgery.
